Last week, my roof got stuck when I was raising the top up and got the dreaded "Trunk is open" message. I tried everything I could think of and could not get it working so I had it towed in. The roof was completely closed but the trunk was left opened towards the ground. My problem ended up being part of the left side of the headliner being stuck in the top mechanism. It was fixed and so far, no problems. The dealer did tell me that they had to re-sync the top, too.

I'e disconnected the battery for 10-15 minutes, and used the door handle to start the top down operation. The roof top continued but the panel did not go down. Soooooooooooooo I think it's out of sync now.
for example :
See the instruction's steps for installing accent lights in which it's clear that if you disconnect battery - you will need to do step 6.

The step 6 can be performed as follows:
INITIALIZATION WITHOUT CONSULT-III :
1. STEP 1
1. Start engine.
2. Press and hold OPEN or CLOSE of roof open/close switch and check that parcel shelf and roof latch* stop after operating.
Does roof warning buzzer sounds once at the same time parcel shelf stops?
YES >> GO TO 3.
NO >> GO TO 2.
2. STEP 2
Repeat operation of step 1 until roof warning buzzer sounds once at the same time parcel shelf stops.
>> GO TO 3.
3. STEP 3
Check that retractable hard top operates normally by operating from fully closed to fully open positions and
from fully open to fully closed positions.

^ Thanks for the info cvipgo. It's at a (Z shop) shop where they will see about getting the consult 3 software to borrow from a Nissan Dealership. I'll call my dealership in the morning though. Not sure how they feel about traveling on site for my car. I definitely don't want to get it towed by roadside assistance.

Feeling stranded I called roadside assistance and started to read the useless manual our car comes with. 45 minutes later after trying locking the car, unlocking the trunk, pulling the emergency trunk release, depressing the locking mechanism its self, pulling fuses, ect......I finally got the top to go down by pulling the emergency trunk release and then manually resetting the lock mechanism and lowering the roof from the door button on the drivers side.

Really not a fun time.....plus some kids in a civic drove by and threw change out the car at me....and one of the coins chipped the screen on the Navi....when I called the cops to give them a discription of the car they didn't even wana talk to me cause they said it wasn't an emergency (granted it wasn't) and the dispatcher gave me another non working 7-digit number to call......seriosuly NYPD is useless!

I have always been able to reboot the roof when it was stuck up by simply turning the car completely off and then back on and cycling the roof back down all the way and them back up. I finally got the dealer to do a check of all the roof sensors and he had to replace one and reprogram it. It fixed the problem.
