The Funniest Thing About The New Vert
OK got my new Car and Driver in the mail yesterday and saw they reviewed the new G37 vert. The thing that struck me about the car was not it's tiny back seat (I mean why bother unless you know midgets or kids that never grow out of age 5) was the trunk space or rather the lack of it. The folks who own the G coupe (I'm one of of them) know that the trunk is already not huge but at least the rear seat does flip down, but let's face the trunk is already small. BTW has anyone EVER been able to get two golf bags in the thing??? BUT that doesn't compare to the vert with, drum roll please, 2 CUBIC FEET OF SPACE! LOL! Unreal, what Infiniti should have done was done away with the rear seats, like many cars do, including very expensive ones and make that a parcel shelf. I am not sold on the vert and I think Nissan rushed this one out too quickly. :9:

I never used my seats to carry people. Very handy though for a back pack or gym bag, ect.
|
SL500 has trunk space of 10.2 cu.ft with the top up and 7.2 cu.ft with the top down..... So exactly what's going on with the Infiniti folding roof design? 2 cu.ft.... interesting. that's not even big enough for turntable and katana.

I saw it at the NYC Autoshow.. Trunk is very small.
|
The main reason it has rears seats is for insurance classification purposes. If the car had only a driver and passenger seat, you would be paying on insurance as it would be classified as a two seater vs. a four.
|
I really like the red interior
|
the 2 seater vert will be the 370z then. at least the rear seat is bigger than the damn sc430
|
WHAT? We have Back seats? :dunno:
|
just use the back seats for storage. end of argument.
|
if you read the specs, the convertible is almost 10cubic feet of space w/ the top up... whats the coupes 8cu ft? but w/ it down it's under 1cu ft. i guess i need a smaller laptop.
either way it's a weekend car for most people. and people are actuallly happy with the pricing they did since most of them will be fully loaded |

Dude, I have put 2 golf bags in my trunk of the coupe hundreds of times no probs.
Not sure about other coupes out there, but I imagine mercs might have more room. I know the SLK conv. doesn't seem to have much room with top down but it had A LOT with top up. |
You CANT fit a gym bag in the trunk of the vert with the top down. It is TOTALLY useless!!

I agree 2 cubic feet is pathetic - but having back seats is a tradition of the G-line in general - it would barely be a G anymore without the back seats and the target market for a G Vert would still want a backseat at any cost it's the G's primary sellingpoint in comparison to say the Z vert. Really a tad more refinement, tad more luxury, more distinguished styling and PRIMARILY the back seat are all that separate the Z and G. |
It does make insurance rates much better.
As a 2+2, you pay much less |
