I think that if you are selling a leased car, you need to pay back the leasing company the value of the car which is why you would need to sell it outright to pay them back unless you transfer the lease to someone else

What a surprise.... a lot of members would have bought it for $31k.
At that price he gave it away. I would have been on the buyer's line also.
I just don't understand why anyone would "give" their car away like that - especially to a dealer. Why didn't you just offer it to one of the members here at $31k ?
