M56 ipl

Motortrend claims there is an M56 IPL in the works.

JDM Mag Watch: Infiniti M56 IPL, Next-Gen Altima Renderings - Wide Open Throttle - Motor Trend Magazine

I know, we can't trust the Jap mags but still it looks mean.

time to start saving, if it's true!! lol...

That would be nice if they actually do it right. Make it an M5 fighter.

agreed.. it would have to lose some weight to compete as the M5 will be twin turbo'd like the X5/6 M.. putting out 550..

Won't be any more of an M5 fighter than the G IPL is an M3 fighter. Not for a few years at least...

+1 an extra 18hp on the M won't even catch a BMW 550, we should do away with that theory ........

Cool 2012 - Infiniti M56 IPL

Motor Trend - Thanks to Best Car magazine, we bring to you very early sketches of a proposed high performance M56-based sedan. If produced, power from the 5.6-liter V-8 can be expected to jump well above the regular edition's 420 horsepower, as can suspension be significantly revised for better handling and a lower ride height.

We wouldn't be surprised if the now 14-inch Akebono brakes grow slightly to reign in any extra speed. And of course, what's a performance sedan without a bolder aerodynamic package and bigger wheels. The speculated high-powered sedan would take its place well above the previously released and slightly-modified 2011 IPL G Coupe.

I hope Infiniti give the IPL M a lil more upgrade than what they did with the G, but the description of the car is not very promising:

(from the article)
"If produced, power from the 5.6-liter V-8 can be expected to jump well above the regular edition's 420 horsepower ..." (G went from 330 to 350)

"... suspension be significantly revised for better handling and a lower ride height ..." (stiffer springs / shocks for the IPL G)

"We wouldn't be surprised if the now 14-inch Akebono brakes grow slightly to reign in any extra speed ..." (IPL G doesn't get bigger brakes, but this is more of a speculation)

" ... what's a performance sedan without a bolder aerodynamic package and bigger wheels." (IPL G got new front and rear bumper, new wheels, though the same size)

Well they did underline "high performance M56 based sedan" so maybe that means it'll be a bit more than the IPL G.

I hope they put this out; the lease is up on my G37xS in 2013 and I was looking at getting a M56S so this would be awesome.

I wish they make it.... and make it with a 550hp engine.

Wishful thinking? Probably. Is it impossible? Absolutely not.

I believe in Nissan.

While I would love something like that, I don't want Nissan to build a great car that no one buys becuase it's too expensive. They need to be smart and build up the brand slowly.
