I definitely may try redline after reading this. I started using AMSOIL in my last car (MINI Cooper S) and it was fantastic. Use it in my EX35, but it doesn't seem to have the same effect. AS most have mentioned, that ticking noise is noticeably present. As most of my driving is now highway (and 60-70 miles one way to work), I'm definitely looking to increase my MPG and overall performance. May even look at a larger oil filter

I have been thinking between RL and Amsoil. I have a while before my oil needs to be changed. I bought the Purolator One Filters in the Bigger Size. If I got the Amsoil, I would get the Signature Series. I have tried it before and noticed an improvement on what I was using before, which I think was Penzoil.

I used the amsoil oil cleaner first before putting the oil in. The person who put in Amsoil used their cheaper stuff. Not sure what makes it so cheap, but the Signature is supposed to last all year. I am tempted to run it all year, with just a filter change. I have also looked at Mag 1, it looks interesting. Some say that they make the Walmart oil, I would say that is def incorrect.

I have some 0w40 aka german castrol from my old car. I doubt I would use that. It would probably lower my mileage, yet make the car smoother.

I used to change my cars oil once a year. I figure that I will do it twice a year with the G.

Looking at Data sheets, the Redline is actually 71 at 40 degrees, Standard Castrol Syntec is 62.64, Amsoil is 59.9. German Castrol, both the 0w30 (72 at 40 Degrees) and 0w40 (79 at 40 degrees) are thicker Mobil 1 0w40 is 70.8. Amsoil is the thinnest and Redline is the thickest of the 5w30.

Then I find something interesting Mobil 1 0w30. It is at Walmart for 19.99. It it a tiny bit more viscous than the Castrol 5w30, it also has a slightly greater HT/HS Viscosity at 3.0. It also has less ash than the Mobil 0w40 which is better for the Cats.

The redline would be great too, it is thicker, but it is a Group V oil, where Mobil 1 looks like it is group IV/V

After reading this, I definitely want to try Red Line 5w-30 for my next oil change.
