Broke a part while removing air hoses - what is it?
Hello all, thanks for letting me be a member here and I'm hoping someone can help me figure this out.
I had a check engine light, after reviewing the code I decided to clean the throttle bodies. Unfortunately while removing the air hose from the throttle body on the left (drivers) side and the left side air filter box, I accidentally broke the plastic part pictured.. snapped the head of it right off. Had I known it was a cheap plastic part attached to the engine, I would have been much more careful. After reviewing parts diagrams, I thought it might be a mass air flow sensor, so I ordered one. Wife had it replaced and the mechanic told her (afterwords) there was nothing wrong with the MAF sensor he replaced. $230 down the toilet. So can anyone tell me what this is? I can't find it in any diagrams Thanks! https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...c976839f28.jpg |
I think it's part of the crankcase ventilation system. Others have mentioned it's not available separately from the intake tube.

i believe that's the vent opening on the valve cover that you circled. 2 options, epoxy the vent opening back on or spend the money and get a new valve cover and gasket.
