Throttle Response + Service Engine Soon Light + VDC Slip Light + The Snow Button

Hi everyone,

I was out at a store running some errands a few days ago, but when I tried to leave afterwards, my 2012 G37x had zero throttle response. The car was still warm, and started with ease. However, the car was moving at a glacial pace, but the idle seemed fine, and the fluids and temperature were all good. The car shifted into reverse, back to drive, back into reverse and then back into drive without issues or complaints. The SES light came on instantly, along with the VDC light.

I also had the 'Snow Button' on due to the fact that we just had a major snowfall the night before and a number of roads were not yet cleared of the snow.

I read the codes and here were the results:

P2100 - Throttle Control Motor Relay Circuit Open
P1290 - Throttle Control Motor Relay Circuit Open Bank 2
P1236 - Throttle Control Motor Circuit Short Bank 2
P1233 - Electric Throttle Control Performance Bank 2
P2101 - Electric Throttle Control Performance

I cleared the codes as I figured that maybe by having the 'Snow Button' on might have messed something up - especially in the -20C temperatures we were getting here in Toronto earlier this week.

The car is driving well now, but thought I'd throw it out there to see if I should be following-up with a throttle body cleaning and/or further cleaning/repairs/replacements.

Thoughts?

Thank you all for your input!

Kind Regards,

Evan

Start simple. Id' recommend a throttle body cleaning and a MAF clean.

Live in the GTA, know exactly what that storm was like, bounced my car off a curb and straight piped it!

The snow mode will just make it so the throttle response is a lot more spongy, and take away some power. All those codes probably mean the cold froze the relay or something... it was bitter!
