PCV Valve?

Hi guys today i was changing my spark plugs, all went well untill i went to put the intake hoses back on and from what i think is the PCV valve snapped, can someone please let me know from the photo what this part is and where can i get a replacement? Currently its just stuck on with an epoxy glue just to get me to a mechanic or until someone can tell me where to get a replacement

Cheers

i believe that fitting is part of the valve cover and not available separately. seems like you did a good job of epoxying it back on. if it was me i would consider it fixed as long as oil does not come seeping out of it.

Hi there thanks for the quick reply, unfortunately the epoxy returned to a liquid state once engine heated up, maybe i didnt let it set long enough or its not the right epoxy glue, any recommendations on epoxy glues that can handle higher heat? Cheers

Oh sweet! Ill give that a go, i dont really want to have to fork out for a new rocker cover for a silly plastic piece but at the end of the day if that glue doesnt work either then I’ll have to. I suppose the next tricky thing is to try clean off all the existing epoxy before i can re apply the Jb weld

Just out of curiosity does anyone know what the purpose of this is? Because theres another pcv valve on the rocker cover so just wondering why there would be 2 on each rocker cover?

Positive Crankcase Ventilation

Instead of breathers that can allow oil vapors to escape into the atmosphere, the valves are plumbed into the intake so the engine will burn the vapors. Been around since 1969, the EPA's first impact on cars.

Sorry i mean why do they use two pcv valves on the same rocker cover rather than just 1 on each side? See the photo im pretty sure they are both pcv valves? Cheers

The rear ports are used to bring in fresh air while the front pcv is to release. The rear port brings in fresh air from the intake. As long as you can get it to stay with the hose on you’ll be fine. No crazy pressure or anything

You could insert a tube with an O.D. the same as the I.D. of the plastic that broke. This will give the tube repair extra support.
