Transmission Update from Dealer?

Hi, I just started reading the forums and have found a couple threads from a couple years ago that mention a transmission update from the dealer, but I cant find anything saying what it actually does. How would I check to see if my car has this update and if it doesnt what would I ask the dealers for to get it?

A dealer can tell either with your VIN # if it was done under record, or by plugging into your car with their scan tool to see what version your car has currently.

Thanks for the reply! What would the updates do for the transmission? Improve shift times?

Not 100% sure. From what I’ve read, mostly downshifting issues and harsh shifting issues. When I first got my G, I had poor shifting. Surprisingly, I disconnected the battery and installed a grounding kit, and never had the issues again. Not sure if the grounding kit or a battery reset cured my issue, but one of them did, and I never pursued the transmission update. If you search this forum, you will find tonnage of information on the subject, including a TSB about the update.

My 2011 was updated in early 2012. Shifting in D was much improved with less hunting and hesitation. DS was neutered IMO! Not as quick to downshift when getting on the binders. Overall It was a good fix overall.

I had two of these TSBs installed by dealer:

May be what you're looking for. Definitely improved the smoothness of shifting as well as rev-matching quality.

Wow, thanks for the PDFs, I have all those symptoms. I just figured that's just how it is, didn't know there was a fix for it.

When I go to the dealership, do I tell them specifically what I need or just say the trans is shifting poorly? Also, will they be able to tell or look into things that would let them know I have an ecutek flash?
