Check Eng Lights wont turn off... help!

My mechanic is hooking up his scanner to the OBD and trying to remove the code which is a 010 code... and he is resetting the code and canceling out the 010 code and the engine lights are NOT turning off.. ABS, AWD, traction, check engine are all on and WONT TURN OFF... how in the heck can we get these codes off??? this is the 2nd mechanic to try and turn off the codes... uggh.

thx,

You probably have a P0010 code for bank 1 camshaft position. The code will not erase if the problem is not corrected. Possible issues:
Engine timing out of sync, Engine oil sludge or lack of oil or oil pressure. Worn timing components (chains, gears, guides)
Crankshaft or camshaft sensor malfunctions
Wiring damage
ECM software out of datA ECM internal damage

I also have that code and was easily able to clear it. You have to be sure to turn the engine off when you clear it. I also started a thread about replacing the solenoid as i had troubling trying to get it out, otherwise it's a simple remove and replace.

when he reset the codes the car was "on" but not running.... then we turned the car off. cranked engine and they were all still on. nothing went out. are you saying car should be "off" when codes are reset? or just turned off once reset? thx

Stop worrying about the CEL until AFTER you've replaced the solenoid or whatever.

Sounds like you are trying to erase the code without actually trying to fix it....

I thought the same as Vizard, thus my comment. You're not communicating clearly as to what's going on.
