Show me your cam phasers

Help me. Would you show me your camshaft phasers ?
Pulled both cam covers off the g37 (2013 with 52k miles) to inspect the cam phasers. Why ?

Long story short. --> The g37x went dead 2 blocks from the house a few months ago - no warning. Code P0340 popped up. Only code.
Replaced Camshaft Position Sensor on Right (passenger - Bank 1) with new one from Infiniti.
Car would just turn over fine but never start (with battery coming off a full charge and checked good).
Pulled CPS connector off - car started but ran very rough. Towed it to the dealer. Dealer says he needs $6k for new engine. I say f**k you all. I'm outta here.

Check for similar problem online and found the link to Jim Wolfe Technology. http://www.jimwolftechnology.com/wol...derslipped.pdf

Thanks !

if we're jsut looking at pictures and comparing, yours look slipped. lol

No experience. And we can't tell unless both the rotor and the front cam lobe is visible.

Based on comparing with the photos from JimWolfe Technologies - I think both of the phasers may have shifted ???

slartibartfast 02-13-2018 01:39 PM

Are Wolf's at stock position?

I'm not sure. I dont have anything else to go off of.
Looking to see if I can find any good shots from youtube vids.
- or if anyone has their motor taken apart and could post a pic or two.

Update on an old thread. I feel like whoever can post pictures of their cam encoder wheels at TDC would help the rest of the community tracking down on this pesky code.

Does this look slipped?

I been getting a pending 0021 and 0524 code for a year now, after it first started i did the galley gaskets. Mechanic said everything else looked fine. Worked great for 2 months then i got the pending p0021 code intermittently twice a month and then would go away. Never a check engine light. Now it started to feel like i lost a lot of power, and now i got the service engine soon light and the p0021 and p0524 codes were finally confirmed. I took off the vtc cover today does the ring look slipped?

Hard to see in this pic however the 2 teeth leg seems to be in a different position than the one I took a pic of when I did mine's. You'd need to confirm with other's on bank two to confirm. Most pictures I find are of bank 1

What two tooth leg are you talking about? On the phaser itself?

Cam phaser

Hey bro, you ever figured out the issue? I have the exact same issue as you right now and can’t figure it out but my cam phaser looks just like yours.
