Weird high pitch noise on G37x 2012 Auto on highway speeds 70-80+ mph
Hello,
I'm having a weird behavior on my G37x 2012 Auto transmission. There's this weird noise that I am experiencing my car got 40k miles on it. I've read on the forum mainly I have seen its been happening to manual transmission ones and for some others I've seen the mentioned about Engine Controller Module but when I read recall it was up to 2011 and the 2012 edition has the new engine module.
Anyone has any idea what that might be? It's pretty annoying sound gets me worried. I've had the car since it had 29k miles on it didn't encounter up until recently.
Thanks!

I don't think recording would work it wouldn't catch that noise I believe before when downshifting I could still hear it I will try once more. I hear in from inside from interior because the wind blows on high speed I can't really hear much from the outside

It's like whistling and like you tuned to an empty radio channel additionally to it like a quick on/off consistently. I realized it's more happening on consistant speed like 80 MPH and when I pressed gas on and holding onto it, the sound doesn't appear but when I drive normally on low RPM holding to consistant speed it's making that noise. It was hard to catch that sound this time because of traffics and don't want to get a ticket going that fast. When I drive on high speed on the country road I hear it very well, annoying the crap out of me. Hopefully it's nothing mechanical.

Exact same issue — 2013 G37X sedan, ~40K.
It's like someone holding on to the passenger side window and whistling — rolling window up/down doesn't affect it, and it occurs anywhere between 55-77mph.
On lonely stretch of road I hit about 120 the other day, and the whistle went away for 3-4 days... then this morning it came back. It's bizarre.
I've taken it to the dealership twice: the first time was at the advent of Hermine and we couldn't hear ****, the second time was after my 120 run, so I thought I "knocked" something back into place.
It sounds like weather stripping or something. Back to the dealership

Aha!
So Sunday night I was complaining about this again and I went to the passenger side view mirror. I was going to "Fonzie" it — like hit it and hope that fixed the problem.
Sure enough, I noticed that the plastic housing around the mirror had separated — I mean like 1/32 of an inch. I simply clicked it back into place... and now there's no whistling sound!
Not sure if this will help with your problem, but **** it's a huge relief!
