Another 2012 xS with the same problem. Once I hit 95+ mph (in Mexico, of course) I can hear a whistling sound from somewhere on the right side of the car.

I have had this happen pretty much every time I go faster than 95, to me it sounds like it would be coming from somewhere around the door handle. It's possible the the wind is hitting the door handle and making the noise, but I never happens on the left side of the car. Weird.

It may be something related to the gas door.
The gap between the gas door and the rear panel might cause that sound.
My sedan makes the same noise since i got it. However, i never got that sound on the convertible. But the convertible gas door is placed different than the sedan.

On my 2011 sedan (6sp) it's more like a deep humming sound at higher speeds, which I don't venture often.
My old Mazda6 did the same thing back in the 90's.

2012 G37xS w/ 32k miles here, exact same issue at the same speeds for me, however, it's more of a mechanical high pitch noise than a whistle. Sounds more like a wheel bearing going bad. If it's transmission related, I'll find out soon because I'm fairly certain that my transmission will be entirely replaced in the next week or two. (transmission blew up yesterday)

I was correct that my wheel bearing was bad, but having it replaced didn't eliminate the annoying high pitch noise at high speeds.

I experienced a wind-caused whistle/noise from my passenger side mirror at 80 mph on the highway. I don't normally travel that fast so it's not been something I worry about. Oddly, I did not hear it when doing 105 mph at a race track in August.

My 2012 6MT sedan has a very annoying noise that is definitely speed related that may be what others on this forum have experienced. It's best described as a loud humming/howling sound that appears to be coming from somewhere close to the right side of the windshield or the right front door, and starts up around 80-85 MPH, or less if bucking a strong head/crosswind, changes to a lower frequency and becomes louder as speed increases, and becomes VERY loud over 100 or so. However, if I crack open the moonroof it stops completely, so I feel that it must be a weatherstrip, window or door seal issue. This is obviously going to be a problem for a dealer to diagnose because of the speeds that need to be generated to duplicate the noise, and I'm sure that a lot of folks out there are going to say to just slow down, but where I live 75-80 MPH is required to stay with the traffic flow, and bucking a 25 MPH headwind at 75 will generate this noise.

Has anybody experienced this and found a remedy? It's really annoying, especially in such a refined car that otherwise has little to no other wind/road noise. I plan to head to a local 75 MPH speed limit road when the wind is blowing hard opposite my direction of travel, and start selectively applying masking tape around different seams to see if I can isolate it, and hope that I don't get a ticket in the process, and will definitely be relying on Waze and my Valentine to help in that regard!

Just bought a 2010 G37 sedan. Had the same noise above 60 MPH. Dealer diagnosed it as rear fixed glass seal. Known problem. Wants $300 to replace fixed window seal. I will buy some window sealant and see if it fixes the problem.

Sorry for the delay in responding cwhepler and thanks for the response. This message hit my spam folder and I just found it. I have read prior reports that this rear glass seal issue is a common source of this noise, but I'm 99% sure that mine is coming from the front right hand side. Having been out of country for two months I have yet to try to isolate it by taping up different seams and/or having someone else drive the car so I can use a piece of fuel hose and listen for it. I'll let you know what I find after doing so, for sure.

I am experiencing the whistling noise at the drivers side rear window seal. I have ordered the following part from infinitipartsusa.com:

Part No.: 83331-JJ50A
WEATHERSTRIP-SIDE WINDOW
[Q60 | 2015 | Convertible]

Cost me about $60. I'm hoping the removal and installation aren't a major pain in the a$$. I didn't think to try window sealant first, that might have been a more cost effective solution. If anyone has replaced this seal and has some info to share, please post. I could use the help. Not about to go near the stealership.
