Got my replaced also because of the 5th gear. Had my car back in 3 days.

what was your 5th gear issue? sometimes when I shift into 5th gear I feel it catch just a little bit. like its not smooth like the other gears.

Definitely not normal. I had this problem as well. Apparently the 5th gear synchro on our cars is garbage. Luckily my dealership was cool and replaced mine free under warranty. I had 40K miles on it before I had to get it replaced. Mine started like you, where it got notchy every once in a while. Then one day it seemed like every other shift into 5th was grinding and notchy. I took it in had the service tech drive it around, then they replaced it in 3 days. Also Does anyone know if the transmission they give us are brand new or refurbed?

they are new transmissions. If they were to put a used our refurbished part they would have to let you know

For you 5th gear guys, how often does it grind? I've had mine grind if I go in aggressively, a couple times in normal situations. Mostly when cold weather. I only have 900 miles left on my warranty and I know it will get worse :/. 2nd grinds occasionally as well, but only on aggressive shifts. On aggressive shifts, even when it doesn't grind, it is EXTREMELY notchy.

I had them look at it once and they drove it down the block and told me nothing was wrong.

My 5th gear would grind, I basically had to granny shift. When I changed tranny oil, it made the issue more obvious, it would grind no matter how I shifted. It was the syncro. So I brought it to the dealer thinking that there is no way they can say they can't replicate it. And then its done.

I had grinds on 2nd mostly. But I did get them at times on 3rd and 5th. I had bad synchros too.

I never use 5th gear. Second and third were the bad ones in mine.

Similar issues here, "fast" shifts my 2nd and 5th will grind but not in normal driving. Gears aren't notchy at normal operating temp only when cold. Will try get it fix before warranty runs out smh
