Curbed Flex Joint on Y-Pipe - Leak?

I was recently forced to drive over 3 large speed bumps in a parking lot and ended up tearing up the braided steel flex joint on the driver side of my Motordyne Y-Pipe. Not all the braids are torn but the majority of them are.

How bad does this type of damage have to be to cause an exhaust leak?

It's difficult to listen for a leak due to the loudness of the E370.

Not sure, I know mine are shredded all to hell from being dropped below the fender when I was on springs, it was a lot more than 3 speed bumps and no leaking (yet) :)

Good to know you're not experiencing problems.

I was just concerned because it happened after I got dyno tuned and didn't want an exhaust leak to cause performance issues. My muffler is also slightly dented and scraped pretty good up front.

Is it just steel braids that seal the gasses or is there an actual pipe beneath it all?

Mine are starting to fray, They just protected the pipe underneath. You can just have that replaced also. Any muffler shop can cut and weld a new flex pipe in :)

I know it can be repaired but i'm not repairing anything unless it's leaking and affecting the performance of my tune.

I just need to know how likely an exhaust leak is from bad rashes.

I fear I may have the same issue too. My driveway is a bit steep initially and if I don't come in at the right angle I scrape too (on more than one occasion). I've noticed a slightly different exhaust tone after the last time I scraped and almost a mild hiss on acceleration so I'm pretty sure my flex joint is frayed. I just haven't decided if I want to bother repairing or it going with a full Ark catback to replace the Y pipe.
