Proper interval to change atf for 7-speed auto

I have a 2009 G37 with 60,000KM (37,500 miles) and wonder what the recommended ATF change interval is.

Going through the G37 Service and Maintenance Guide with service schedules of up to 120,000 miles, I don't see any mentioning of changing the 7-speed auto's ATF. Whenever ATF change is mentioned, it always says "Except 7-speed automatic transmission".

Your inputs are appreciated.

Infiniti doesn't recommend changing the ATF on the 7. However, if you want to do it, it's possible. I change mine every 30-45k (drain/fill).

i wasn't trying to waste anyone's time. when i posted that i hadn't read the manual all the way. i saw something that said "transmission fluid/oil. i didn't see that it said just inspect.

i would imagine wasting time would have been just to tell him to do a search on these forums, or maybe not offering something constructive by telling other people they're wasting time when they're just trying to help.

OP, i would call the service department at any dealership and ask them if and when one should change it. i believe there's a magnetic drain plug on the bottom back-side of the transmission and that it's filled through the dipstick on the back of the engine(read that somewhere on here a while back).

good luck.

I don't think it's a simple DIY on the 7AT. There is no fill plug. You'll have to have a special pump and know how much to pump new fluid. When I had my 2009 G, I brought this up to my SA twice and he always said that I didn't need it until 100K miles or so.

I personally don't agree with that practice but I think I have a great SA :)

It is designed to be a lifetime fill. Believe it or not.

Can you define "lifetime"? 100K miles? 150K? Forever? :)

Service rep at infiniti said 60k for tranny and 30k for pumpkins, not sure if this is in line with the manual though.

it's designed to be lifetime, but i personally would drain it around 60K, if you're looking to keep your car for a long time... If you're planning on selling it @ 90K, then i guess it doesn't matter :)

The 5AT you can drain and fill pretty easily and cheaply. I'd do it every 45K miles though.

Kinda, sorta. See this:

It's possible, just not an easy process.
