Ipl ecu tune

I recently purchased a 2012 G37 IPL. Does anyone know of any ECU tunes available?

Skyline6mt 03-11-2012 10:59 PM

Hypertech, Cobb, and Uprev should all work. Just find a good tuner. I recommend changing your cats and even exhaust and intake before you do it though you'll see the best gains

G37Sam 03-12-2012 01:39 AM

Isn't the IPL already tuned? I don't see much room for gains to be honest

ANMVQ 03-12-2012 11:12 AM

I thought it was too:/ But I would not be changing out the cats?.
I made GREAT power(298 WHP) and am now making really good power with the
stockers. See sig. :).

This ^. Unless you change your exhaust, intakes etc then this would be a waste of money. Even then your impoved HP would probably be a disappointment as far as bang for the buck goes.

Rob_Ferriolo 03-12-2012 04:13 PM

They did tune the ECU. Any suggestions to get more HP/TQ? Guess you can't tune it further?

hustlerj 03-12-2012 04:55 PM

Why waste money on bolt on parts that is going add few hp and torque. Save up and get the gtm tt..

Q8y_drifter 03-12-2012 05:40 PM

It already has an IPL catback on it, so you'd gain more from HFC/Intake + tune.

Rob_Ferriolo 03-12-2012 06:59 PM

I wasn't sure about tuning the ECU further considering its already been tuned? How would that work?

Q8y_drifter 03-12-2012 07:06 PM

You will not gain anything if you simply tune the ECU as there is not much to adjust from stock, however with the addition of aftermarket intake, HFC, test pipes or long tube headers, you will need to compensate for the changes by retuning the ECU.

This...............

Also if you wanted to do a bunch of bolt ons to your car you should have bought something other than an IPL. Base or S would have worked well and saved you some money for that TT or SC. Heck it may have paid for it.

Rob_Ferriolo 03-12-2012 09:14 PM

I was honestly expecting infiniti to get a little more from an ECU tune than just +18HP and +6TQ. Great car none the less though.

Rob_Ferriolo 03-13-2012 10:06 AM

Any Suggestions on which brand of intake/headers?

ANMVQ 03-13-2012 10:12 AM

Headers, ( NO IMO) Intakes R2C's. :)

Q8y_drifter 03-13-2012 10:15 AM

Fast Intentions LTH + Stillen G3 intake + Uprev.

I have the R2C's on my IPL. Minor notice in performance and MPG's (went up about 2mpg street). The biggest thing I do notice is the great throaty sound from it. I love them! Works great with the IPL exhaust.

Tazicon 03-13-2012 04:48 PM

Do it! The fewer stock IPL's out in the world the better!

Looks good man! How much did it cost?

Where did you go to get a tune for $50?

Seriously?

Let me clarify for you..

The $50 (+) Grand (That's THOUSAND) dollar PURCHASE price...

I was at my local dealer last week. The one they had on the lot was actually $54,000 and change...

Just sayin.

To the OP. Like others have said, your IPL comes factory modded to pretty much the max. (Hence the IPL annotation) You can try your choice of intakes, and a uprev tune...or....save your $ and look at either Stillen or GTM for power-adder options. Peruse this site. You'll get a ton of ideas.

Our cars are very close to being max'ed out, there's very little to gain from breathing mods. Maybe test pipes and retune but that's as far as I'd go and besides, a lot of what you paid extra for in the IPL went into the tune, getting a retune for a few more ponies would really be a waste

Either save up for forced induction or be happy with what you have :)

seymore4 03-30-2012 03:00 AM

From my understanding of talking to several people who know much about these things the IPL "tune" isn't that special. No where near what you can do with an Osiris tune.. The majority of IPL is looks and slightly reworked suspension.. A base model with bolt ons and a proper tune will beast on an IPL every time

used2xb 04-08-2012 11:45 PM

I just had a Stillen Gen 3 Intake put in this week and an uprev tune done at Z Car Garage. Rob dyno'd my IPL base, intake, and then intake+tune. I put the dyno's up in the dyno section on like the 6th page. Rob pretty much only works on Zs and Gs, so he knows what he's doing, but it was his first IPL tune. He said he had to work a little bit harder to get some of the upfront gains he usually gets on regular G's.
