Think I'm toast -- help please
 

OK, today while waxing my 2-year old G37 I made the mistake of leaving the car ON ( not running) to listen to the radio while waxing away. As you might expect given the battery issues with these, when I went to start it -- nothing. Since I had the problem before I decided to just replace the battery instead of jumping it. Went out, bought battery, started to replace same. Got as far as disconnecting the cables. Wow, not easy. Came here looking for perhaps a tip or two and found discussion about a recall due to software or something else. So, I reconnected the battery and tried to jump the car -- no go. Just clicks and then rapid flashing of all warning lights. And now my key isn't recognized so I can't even try to jump the car.

Is there anything I can do other than have this towed to my dealer?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Your battery is dead. IT shouldnt take more than 5 mins to take the old battery out. Also, as far as i know, you shouldnt be trying to jump start your car anyway as this can cause other electrical problems with the ECU. And then you'de really be screwed and need to get towed back to the dealer.

Put the original battery back. Call Infiniti Roadside Assistance and report a dead battery and get towed to the dealership. Print out the TSB covering the issue and take it into the dealership with you. Get problem fixed and battery replaced under warranty.

Same situation happened to me (clicks and lights flashing). Jumping on my own did not work. Infiniti road side assistance came the next morning and jumped my car w/ thicker cable and stronger power source, and it work. I was able to drive to the dealer to get the battery tsb done.

Thanks for the replies. My main concern now has to do with the key. It seems like the car is no longer recognizing my smart key and is in secure mode. If Infiniti roadside assist jumps the car will my key start to work? I'm typically cynical about these type of things "healing" on their own. I guess if the key fails I can have roadside assist tow it.

IF they come out and jump the car, you can have the car taken care of when you take the car to the dealer to get the battery fixed.

Thanks. Well for once something went in my direction. After letting the car sit overnight I decided that maybe the reason I couldn't get the car out of lock mode was low battery power. I tried one last time to jump it (primarily to close the windows that were open and get my laptop out of the trunk) and what do you know -- it started. I left it run for a while, took it on a 20 minute drive and it seems better. Will still schedule the dealer trip as this is certainly a problem but nice to know I've avoided a tow and serious inconvenience..
