my G37 is Redlining 8200Rpms 5at
#25
Well, based on my experience the redline in our cars can vary. I notice that under normal driving conditions (after i've been driving reasonabl for a while) and I abruptly floor the car and redline, the shift point is 7500. However, when I take my car to the track, the redline is as high as 8200 in full auto. I believe it is actually variable. Could just be me being crazy, but I have seen mine hit 8200 before, but only after racing for a while.
I'm bone stock 08 5AT.

First off, the ACTUAL redline set point is not 7,500, it's 7,600rpm. I know it's a small difference but that's what it actually is according to Nissan/Infiniti.
Second, for the people who drive MT's and are asking why he's going that far, he's not. It's the car. He pushes the pedal, it goes all the way to redline and shifts where it's supposed to shift. He can't control how far it goes past 7,600rpm without manually changing the shift point using a tuning software.
Second, you're not actually hitting anywhere over 8K RPM on the stock rev limiter settings. The needle does go past 8K, yes, but the crank is not actually spinning that fast. Datalog the car and see. The highest my car revved according to the datalogs I did using Cipher software is 7725rpm. From inside the car looked like it was revving all the way to 8K. Most of the time it will dip into the 8K range during the shift. This is normal, every auto G does that.
Nothing is wrong with your car so no need to take it to the dealer or anything.

If you look at a dyno, you'll see theres a slight drop in HP after 7k. Ideally you want to shift when its at its peak so anything after that will be out of the maximum HP range.
However different mods affect the car different way so your max HP might move up to a higher rpm. You can't really know without a dyno I think.
