DS Mode wouldn't switch gears

I was driving in DS mode today, which is the only way this car actually moves when you need it to, and when i hit third gear, the friggin trans wouldn't shift.. it rev'd up to 6 1/2 without shifting. Has this happened to anyone?

rev it some more. it will shift. i promise.

The point of DS mode is it shifts at a higher RPM then D mode to help keep you in the powerband... aka Sport mode. If you don't accelerate fully it will still shift around 4.5K but if you step on it it will shift around 7K... 7.5K if you have an access port and map loaded.

At times in DS mode I've noticed it will not shift even if I back off and expect it to. It will remain in that gear. It seems that if you put it in DS mode and drive normally it will shift only a little higher on the RPM band, but if you accelerate aggressively it will stay in the same gear much higher. The option you then have is to manually upshift.

DS is a fully automatic mode, no need to manually shift. If you manually shift in DS mode then you will go into full manual mode and you will then have to shift in order to change gears.

Uhh... yah. But if you feel DS mode is not shifting when you want you can do it manually. Of course, you will then need to flip it back to D if you want it in full auto and then over to DS again if that's what you want. The alternative is just leave it in D.

thanks guys, it caught me off guard because i had to let off the gas due to someone cutting me off and the car just stayed up there in rpms. Naturally i switched it over to D and it switched gears, but i wasn't expecting it.

I was in the DS mode yesterday and had a similar issue ... at 6000 rpms it didnt change, and freaked me for a second until it changed at 7K. The car really pulls in DS. I've tried shifting manual at the same RPM range as the DS and the car doenst pull the same. Has anyone noticed the same?

Nope, noticed the exact opposite, in manual mode the transmission is fully engaged, in DS it's still auto, just shifts higher. I leave mine in DS for sub 60 driving in city and only move to D on the highway when crusing so any slowing I may have to do doesn't cause it to downshift to 4th. In manual mode wheels are much more likely to spin/churp when launching even with traction control engaged.

Adaptive Shifting

Remember that in DS we also get to experience adaptive shifting. If you are doing twisties and backing off the throttle alot, the tranny, in DS mode, will tend to hold a gear rather than upshift as most autos do. It's give more of a manual tranny feel, using throttle to slow the car and speed up alternately while in the high range of a selected gear.

If you are in DS and lighter on the gas for while, it tends to shift sooner and upshift more "naturally".

That's broken man, take that to the dealer. Probably a bad connection on the shifter.

^^ I just had this happen to me a few different times this week. Problem goes away turning the car off and back on, but came back randomly. Was searching on here before creating a new post and then eventually getting it to the dealership.

Shift into DS but display still says D. Can't change gears via the stick, however the paddle shifters do work... just can't stay in M mode though.

Anyone else experience this ever? :confused2:
