I got my car back about a week ago. My dealer talked to a senior technician at Nissan Canada and Nissan USA and they said to change to ester oil and told me to drive the car for 1000 kms (625 miles) and see the result. They told me to report back to them every 250 kms (156 miles).
So far I put on about 270 kms and noticed the klonking sound doesn't seem as loud as before. I'd say about 10 to 15% quieter.
franky - what did your dealer say?

Yes, they updated the ECU. They also reset and checked the timing on the actuators. They also flushed the fuel system thinking there might be water in the gas, or wrong gas octane was used.

I just had the slow cranking TSB work done (https://www.myg37.com/forums/tsb-tec...y-upgrade.html) on my 08 G37S coupe, and I swear it fixed the klonking issue I was experiencing, so you may want to try it out.

Thanks toastmaster.
However, now that the temperature is above freezing, my car no longer make the klonking noise. I will mention this to my service advisor the next time I see him for oil change.
Do you have the TSB number? I checked the other link you posted but did not see the TSB number as well.

Another micro-necro bump. I typically don't shut off my car and then start it right away but did so recently and noticed "the knock" which went away within 5 seconds or less. I've been able to repeat it since. Shut the fully hot car off. Count to three, restart. I get a knocking noise. Had the dealer do a synthetic oil change last Monday and I noticed the knock again today. Going to head in to the dealer early tomorrow to at least give them a head's up and see if they'll change the oil using the Nissan stuff. Mine's a 2013, 21K and change on the odometer.
