Stillen G3 vs Admintuning Intakes
So I've searched the forums and the web and couldn't really find what I was looking for. I did find one but it was for the 350. I know Stillen has a reputation for their quality parts for our cars but after some research, I seem to have found that Admintuning intakes will give a little more gain over the SG3's. What's odd that I found was when I was installing my hfc's yesterday, my mechanic/tuner whose tuned many G's and Z's was strongly suggesting the stillen's over the admins. On Admintuning's site they claim
So really, I'm not sure whether to spend the little extra mula and get the admins or just stick with stillen.
Is anyone running Admintuning intakes that can share their experience and give some feedback on their performance and quality?
Up to 12whp peak and 20whp in other parts of the powerband gains ON TOP of Stillen G3 intakes, and we were able to pick up 22whp over stock airboxes on a BONE STOCK G37.
Is anyone running Admintuning intakes that can share their experience and give some feedback on their performance and quality?

From what I have heard Admin Tuning Intakes are the Intakes making most power for our cars. There a full 3in intake and a tune is requieres when installing them. I have Stillens I love my stillens but I if at the time of buying my gen 3s I had the choice I would of chose Admin

I was talking to the admin tuning guy and some other members about this on another thread.
https://www.myg37.com/forums/intake-...n-intakes.html
A member might do a few tests on 1/4 and 0-60, no dyno. I'm waiting on the results.
Honestly, I'm still kind of iffy about this intake. I want it to be real, but the claims are too audacious. I really want to know how much you will gain from swapping g3 or takeda with admin on an already tuned car. I want to know how much better the admin will be compared to similar products on a car with full airflow mods. I don't think many people will just buy intake + tune and stop there. While I appreciate the videos admin has uploaded, I still feel the need for a more apples to apples comparison. Fully done up car with tune, the only difference is the intake.
The way I see it, if 3" or 3.25" was the ideal setup for power, why would everyone else go 2.75? There has to be more reason for this not to be popularized already in the last 10 years.

kroy, MAF mapping (as already said) and TB size. Stock Throttle Bodies is only 58mm which is a tad larger than 2.25 inches. You can easily bore your TB to 63mm with is almost right at 2.5 inches. To my knowledge, and correct me if I am wrong, everyone else save AAM and Admintuning is 2.5" tubing, or at least pipes down to 2.5" tubing at the MAF (example: Takeda CAI).
AAM uses 2.75 and Admintuning uses 3". Both require tuning if you install either to compensate for this larger volume increase. Companies typically want to sell in volume so to sell an off the shelf product for the consumer you don't want to have to deal with requiring a tune, which is what everyone else did: made the largest they can without requiring a tune. AAM got around this by offering a step-down adapter to put in tube by the MAF that you can remove to increase flow. Adminetuning went for the "pro-consumer" market. You will need a tune. If you are going for something off the self that works and doesn't "require" a tune, go 2.5" or smaller. If you are going for numbers, power, intake sound, and are serious, go all out and size up appropriately, in my opinion.
For the record EPs offers a 70mm TBs (roughly 2.75 inches) and you can get a 72mm shaftless throttle bodies with a 82mm opening as well for our platform (that's roughly 3.25 inches coming in and 2.83 inches going into the plenum).

I have Admintuning 3" intake and street tuned by the guy himself (Moncef). I personally never tried the Stillen Gen 3. But it's more like 2.5" vs 3" and both require a tune to maximize the gain. Admintuning posted a dyno result of his G coming from stock air boxes to the 3" Admintuning intake and he made roughly +31 whp on the dyno (280 whp before and 311 whp after).Back to my opinion, I like how the intake sounds. My throttle response is quicker and accelerates hard. About the water problem, you don't have to worry about hydrolocking your car unless you submerge your car into a puddle. I have been driving my car under heavy rain with 0 issue so far.

To be fair, isn't that similar numbers compared to what stillen/takeda puts you at with whp?
I bring this point up simply for discussion, but if a tune is required to run admin intakes, a different file adds an extra variable into the system. It's hard to say with stock air boxes and stock file, you get y0 whp, but with admin intake and tune you get y1 whp, and conclude admin is king of intakes. A better comparison would be swapping from gen 3 or takeda with correct file and swapping to admin with corrected file. Files targeting similar A/F and other tuning propeties.
Maybe I missed some info and someone HAS tested same dyno, day, and tuner, but swapping gen 3 to admin.
All being said, I am very curious. I really like the idea of bigger intakes
