Whiteline diff bushing problem - Whiteline to the rescue
At the end of May, I had the differential bushings replaced with Whiteline bushings. 3 months later, when getting my exhaust installed, the shop showed me that the main bushing was failing. Basically, the bushing separated from the metal insert, and was walking up (cocked sideways) the diff mount.
https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...6e340b132e.png Emailed Whiteline, and they sent out a replacement bushing kit (arrived today) but that was not even half the battle. I paid $400 to install the bushings the 1st time, 3 months later, another $400 to install the replacement bushings? Was not too thrilled to part with that money. Called Whiteline and asked if they could help me out. Their first response was that they do not cover labor. That did not sit well with me, so I continued to plead my case. The representative that took my call got the general manger on the phone, and he assured me he would have a response later today. Whiteline then called my shop and agreed to pay the invoice for the re-install directly! When they called me to tell me this, they also reassured me that this is an isolated case and should not expect this to happen again. That level of customer service deserves recognition, hence this post. What felt like the start of a nightmare turned into rose smelling bushings. |
Defintly noteworthy and really great of them, I wouldn't have expected any company to do that...I know I'll remember that they did that anytime their name comes up or I'm looking for a bushing or parts that they make

Here are some pics of the bushing that separated. Crazy that it looks like this after (now) 4 months.

Any ideas what caused the poly to break down?
|
There is a lot of stress on that bushing due to both the diff and the subframe moving around. Entcee, do you have the Z1 subframe collars? I suspect they will help that issue in the future. |

Well, crud, now I have to keep an eye on my diff bushing. Maybe the Z1 is more robust in that regard? Hopefully... |
