DIY: Tow hook license plate

So i tried doing this today.. however the threads on the pipe were spaced too closely... The tow hook from the trunk of the car has threads spaced a lot further apart. Does someone know the exact part to buy from a home Depot in Canada or another hardware store in Canada that may vary it?
