Realistic DIY maintenance schedule
Apologies if this is a common question, but i did not see a sticky.
Got my car at 34k mi and it just clicked over 40k. Since the weather is still nice, I've been thinking about maintenance. Looking over the web, i see wide discrepancies in suggested maintenance. From dealerships wanting you to pay them boatloads to change everything seemingly far to often, to the owner manual claiming things like ATF never needs to be replaced (in my experience, that just means it gets replaced along with the entire transmission at some point after you are out of warranty) Since the previous owner was a lessee, I'm going to assume no standard maintenance has ever been done on the car other than oil changes at probably far-too-long intervals. I've changed the oil and air filters, what else should be on my to do list? Car is a 2013 G37x sedan with 40k. I do not race. I occasionally drive like an ******* on twisty roads. Much thanks. |
Realistic DIY maintenance schedule
Well the 30k maintenance schedule involves cabin air filter, both engine air filters, rear differential fluid and brake fluid. If you have a 7 speed you do not have to change your transmission fluid but it can if you want and it is recommended on a 6 speed.

Thanks, i'll do the cabin filter. Any special procedure for the brake fluid or just start furthest from the master cylinder and work closest?
As the car is AWD, is there anything that needs to be done with the front diff and transfer case? As far as the ATF service on the 7sp Auto, what is a more realistic service interval than "never"? |

I'm guessing with the way the ATTESA works, the front diff and transfer case get relatively little use compared to the rear diff, amirite?
Doing the ATF at 60k seems reasonable |

also, is the Nissan long life coolant legitimately good to 100k? (paranoid since i used to own a GM, which was 100k or when it ate your gaskets, whichever came first)

I had a GM as well lol my Pontiac Grand Prix and those horrible gaskets I had to replace, also replaced the dexcool lol well I don't think I'll wait until 100k for the coolant but maybe I'll do it at 60k as well.

Brake fluid is easy to do too. If you're mechanically includes, buy a motive power bleeder. A helper is no longer needed and you get it done quicker. |
