Yup. Good idea to disconnect the battery for anything related to the airbag(s).

Steering Wheel Trim

Just ordered mine, $110, infinitipartsdeal.com Dealer wanted $186 Has anybody done anything to try to lengthen life of these so you are not running into this again in a few years? Maybe a topcoat of clear?
Can the old one be restored with same finish?

the replacements use an updated formula/coating that don't come off or wear the same... I have had a replacement on mine for almost 7 years without any peeling..its outlasted even a replacement steering wheel

Cool, mine is a part time driver, so the steering wheel should last for awhile.
Thanks

Good enough. I received the part today. Looks much better, I'm fine if it just painted black, looks good.
Is this coating on the original the same as what the Z cars had problems with in the interior? I've read about the interior trim on them getting pretty crappy pretty quick.

The first part of this may be true and certainly makes sense, but I can't really say as I don't know whats under the coating...the new bezels (steering wheel and front arm rests) don't scratch to reveal whats underneath or at least haven't for me in over 7 years..this is also why I suspect the coating is different...I have original pieces on my rear doors, they continue to scratch if you look at them funny... both have a soft coating over the plastic, its the coating that scratches off, the plastic doesn't scratch or have gouges in it ...

I lol'ed that wolverine comment, thats exactly what it looks like....

Thanks for the info everyone. I'll replace the steering wheel trim and the door handle aluminum trim and my '08 interior will pretty much be perfect. The interior is 1 of the reasons I chose a G37 over a Nissan Z or genesis coupe.
Thanks!

And yes, dealers can't find these numbers in the Nissan Fast catalog, though you can order them. Some strange Nissan/Infiniti decision...
Yes, this search result saved my day...Thanks to Admins too for keeping these older pictures working as much as possible.

Not to revive an old thread here, but I removed my wheel tonight and ran into an issue.

When I pulled the wheel off, the plastic cover below the wheel broke. Right where the airbag wires connect.

There doesn’t appear to be any damage to the board or to the wires (or their connections). Is this an issue?

Looks like the piece that broke off is shielding the wires as they bend off of the circuit board. I would apply some epoxy glue to the edges, hold it down with some masking tape, let it cure overnight and you should be fine.

Would super glue work?

I agree the super glue would work but to have a more permanent bond, I would use an epoxy like JB-Weld 50139. They sell it on Amazon and at most local auto parts stores like O'Reilly's for $6-8.
