Copper is a better conductor and I believe the tinned copper is more resistant to moisture which is important...OFC is the undisputed better product.

Thanks for helping revive the DIY section! How would you rate this mod in terms of the time and effort required vs the benefits you've noticed (especially regarding the transmission performance). Now that i'm out of warranty some of these low-budget mods peak my interest.

Sorry! I'm getting slammed at work since it's the end of the year and I need to design a budget and project next year's expenses; all while training a new employee so I'm swamped. I'll get them up soon, promise!
Vic - Personally, I didn't notice anything in terms of responsiveness but if it even helped cut it down by a couple milliseconds then why not? Before I redo it, I'll drive around for a few weeks without the kit and see if I feel a difference with it off. I did this mod shortly after purchase so I probably wiped from memory how it acted before. Might be why I can't see what everyone else is talking about now that I think about it. That said, I can still detect the indecisiveness from time to time but my car will drop it's a$s end and roll at a moment's notice if I ask it to. It's the day to day driving in traffic where I can feel it holding a gear too long or do a double gear change if I go to quickly merge.
For a $20-30 mod it doesn't hurt to play with it. Took me all of 15 minutes to cut and secure the wire and connectors and 30 for install give or take 5-10 minutes? Main hold up was because I didn't have a separate allen key for the TB's. I had a set connected to a handle; like a swiss army knife, so it was too bulky to just freely turn the allen key.

I would definitely recommend shrink tube. just make sure to get it big enough to fit over the female end of the connector. Electrical tape works also.
You need 6 8-AWG connectors and 3 4-AWG connectors @ 5/16ths inch
I got 13' of wire and had plenty. I'd even say at 12 ft you'd be safe.

No problem. Just wanted to let you know what I picked up. Finding the info about the eye diameter was very stressful when I was looking to make mine lol. I like throwing that info in just in case one hasn't considered it.
But shrink wire, while not necessary, Will provide a secure grip and really look clean compared to electrical tape. When I re-do mine, I plan on using braided wire sleeve for a OEM look. Red wire is cute fora bit but I'm over it now.
