Hey everyone. New to the forums, 2011 G37S Sedan 6MT.

I did the ECU reset (the 370z one, 10s instead of 7, 12s instead of 10 etc etc).

Finally got it flashing, and I think I got it to work. However, now I notice when I turn my car on, press the VDC Off button, the VDC actually keeps staying on... I have to stop, turn the car off completely, and then press the VDC Off button again for it to actually turn off. Kind-of a pain, I'd like to get it back to how it was before... do you recommend I do the ECU reset again? Anything like this happen to anyone else?

Thanks

Thank you so much, this still works

I tried this on my 09 g37x and it worked the first time. I used the music track time for counting made it easy. So cool the infinitis have these features.

I just disconnected my battery because its new to me to reset it. I left it disconnected for 12 hours and when I reinstalled the battery cables etc. my windows did not need resetting ...is that normal. I thought if you disconnected the battery and reset the car it would make the windows need to be initialized??

Believe me it doesn't work using the brake pedal no matter how many times you try it or what timing you use!

When you assume. you make an *** out of u and me. LOL!

I tried it this morning just before leaving for work. Got it on the first try.

If you don't count the 2 times I was pressing the brake instead of the gas, and the time I lost count.
Otherwise, it worked like a charm

The first two WOTs were sluggish, then the car was perfectly normal. No difference AFAIK. Drove it hard for the hr+ commute.

Tonight I install my R2Cs.

I performed the idle reset process and it seems to have smoothed things our after a filter change, and MAF cleaning. I probably won't know until I'm in traffic tomorrow. If nothing changed, I'll do the full relearn this weekend.

Resetting the ECU or pulling the battery will not remove the Uprev tune. It is stored in the ROM and I think can only be wiped if the dealer goes and updates the actual ECU firmware. I tested my maps out to make sure and they were all fine.

I found this set of instruction on the Infiniti Q50 forum. Otherwise you can try what is above on this thread OR I have always used this video on my G37 and it works (might be similar to this thread but the video is easy to follow):

Hope this help you out.

"want to reset the ecu to get the peppiness back in the car after the break in and first oil change. was following the instructions below, there are other versions with differing times between presses and how long to leave it untouched so i took an hr and tried every one with a stopwatch today. The lights never flash so i was assuming that it might have possibly been changed for the new motor

1. Push start button twice to get - Ignition "ON", count to 3.
2. Depress/Release pedal 5 times - hard and fast.
3. Count to 10 (not 7!) and fully depress pedal.
4. Count to 12 (SES should be blinking), release pedal.
5. Count to 10, depress pedal.
6. Count to 10, release pedal.
7. Turn off ignition, then start engine. ECU reset is done!"

Thank you! I had to replace my stock mufflers and added 3" pipes from the resonator to a 3" inlet (4" out) on my new high-flow, N1 style mufflers. The process worked as described. I am now *retraining* my ride. It seems to have been successful as the jumping, lurching and random downshifts seem to have disappeared or at least mellowed. I'm only about 20-30 minutes of local, in-town traffic in, so I'm hoping by the weekend to feel the difference.

There's a quick, not too instructional vid by someone on YT, but I'll try to make one with better audio, correct orientation video and perhaps the above referenced instrux included.

Thanks!

for those who can't get this one figured out, and need to reset the ECU by disconnecting the battery, you don't have to wait hours on end to get it to reset. Disconnect the positive terminal and touch it to the negative terminal. You will see a small spark. This is all the capacitors draining in the computers. It is safe, and how I've been doing it for years. In addition to being an EET, I am also MECP and ASE certified.

Discharging all the caps this way means you can disconnect, drain caps instantly, reconnect, done. It takes all of 40 seconds.
