Sam's Club Headlight Restoration
Hi all. I've been looking at a more permanent solution to address my cloudy, yellow headlights. I've been restoring them every so often, yet they return to their previous state eventually. I'm floating around the idea of getting them restored at Sam's Club for $40, then applying something similar to this after: https://www.autogeek.net/optimum-opt...t-coating.html
Does anyone have any experience with Sam's Club's headlight restoration service? Also, is the headlight coating as effective as the company claims it to be? Thanks |
lol i didnt even know they offered this service.
|
my dad had it done to his 10+ year old toyota avalon. worth it, especially considering the warranty.
|
Do you need a sam's club membership to get this service?
|
Same story here. Looking to see how it works out for you |

You could ask someone with membership to buy you a cash card, and use that. Better check first that you can use a cash card for this service.
IIRC the warranty is 5 years on this service. Again, check for yourself. |
Got my headlights restored and they look really good. It's a better restoration job than I've ever done.
Now I just have to wait a week to wash it while the clear coat dries. We'll see how it holds up! https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...3d87c86308.jpg |
I saw this offering at Sams and was curious about it. Do you have before and after pics? |

I took this pic a few weeks ago - they're still holding up pretty well. I scuffed the clear coat a bit on my driver's side, so I may take it in again at some point to get it redone. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...ddaebe727e.jpg |
obsidian, that looks great, man. I tried buffing out the yellow hue, but it seems to always come back after a few months or so.
may need to give this service a try. |
They use similar 3m kit you can buy and do yourself
|
They may use some chemicals from it, but they break out the speed polisher and do a much more thorough job. They also use an actual clear coat that's not provided in those kits. You can follow this process yourself, or you can spend $20 bucks more to have them do it (and get free touch-ups for 5 years).
I've used different kits from O'Reilly and such - none of them hold up in the long term. It's been 8 months and the headlights still look good. |
I did 3m kit and used lense sealant spray after on older Lexus 3 years ago and still looks new. It's all about prep and not rushing it and wet sanding it
