Spots on Dashboard
 

I have several spots on my '09 g37 sedan dashboard. These look almost like a splatter and have not been really evident until just recently (i bought the car about a month ago). I have used several different types of cleaners and none of them can get it off, on deeper inspection it looks almost like a chemical (spots) has slightly eaten away the very top layer of the dash. Maybe the previous owner dripped something on it: soda, acetone, cleaner, etc. and just left it there :dunno:.

Anyone know if there is a product out there similiar to a polish only for dashboards???

Anyone know if I can "cover it up" with some kinda glossy cleaner? It looks slightly lighter in color on the spots than the surrounding black dashboard.

Any help is appreciated and pictures to follow later this afternoon.

If it's actually something that will come off, you can try a magic eraser and lightly rub the spots.

Some kind of chemical drops for sure. Hate to be the barrel of bad new but those may not come out. Unfortunately I don't know of any product for those stains, try 303 protectant, mr clean magic eraser etc. maybe other can give you some more inputs.

They don't look like the actual vinyl is eaten away from those pictures.

Here's what I'd do.

Wet a facecloth. Good and sopping. Lay it over those spots for a bit and let them soak to try to soften whatever that is. Then use a soft brush like a nail brush with some regular soap and water. I would stay away from any kind of solvent or hash chemicals. If it comes off, great! Then protect it with your favorite product.

used magic erasers, significantly reduced how noticeable the marks were but they are definitely still there... maybe a few more magic eraser treatments...

klasse AIO might help, and then aerospace 303.

The magic eraser has some strong cleaning power but I would not recommend using it on the dashboard as the abrasiveness can remove not only the stain but part of the finish. Please be extremely careful if you decide to keep using it on the interior it may cause more harm than good. I'd personally suggest starting with a much gentler option like the 303 Cleaner & Spot Remover. Good luck!

yeah I wouldn't use anything too harsh or else you'll take the dye out of the dash, then it'll look really bad.

that almost looks like someones coke flew up in the air while driving and nobody bothered to wipe it off? that stuff eats at everything.
