Didn't buy a clear bra....how to rectify?
Okay, I didn't get a clear bra like originally planned. Big mistake, big big mistake. 6 months and 11k miles later and my front bumper looks like it's on 5 year old car(and that's being generous). My wifes nail polish holds up better.
Anyways, what is the best way to get my front bumper back to factory condition so I can clear bra it? Can I buy a bumper from nissan that is factory painted or do I have to risk letting a body shop try to get it right? The last thing I want to do is open a can of worms and get into a situation where some body shop can't match/blend the paint properly, orange peel, etc, etc. Also, will they be able to apply scratch-shield clear or will I end up with two completely different clears on the car? Thoughts? Suggestions? I feel like a complete *** for not getting the CB to begin with. I skipped it for the sake of saving $$$. Worked out great  |
Find A "quality" body shop!

Scratch shield won't matter with a clear bra, and neither will orange peel, unfortunately :(
|
just have a good body shop repaint your bumper and then clear bra it. clear bra does get pits and chips as well though.

Front bumpers do not come painted.

Find a good body shop, have it resprayed, wait 60-90 days for it to cure, then clear bra. Done........You'll be glad you did it.

the best way is to pat yourself on the back for not spending money on it...not worth it at all IMO :D

Yeah, at this point it'd probably best just to not worry about it. At least now that its jacked up you won't have to cringe every time a rock hits the front!

touch up paint

I feel the same way my friend....I also have a blue slate G with chips galore on the front bumper smfh

The whole 90 days thing sucks. I was thinking about getting it on my repainted hood. Two weeks after it was painted some douche cuts me off and throws a nice rock on the hood.
F it. |
Well you could prob put a bra on the car during the 90 days like one of the leather ones etc. I just dont think it can be sealed with the clear bra. However i could be wrong.

90 days............aaaahhhhhhhhh
A quality body shop should be able the cure your paint with the proper additives to the clear coat and the use of lights. Why speculate? Find a good shop and ask them. Hell, find a few different shops and ask them!

You do not need to wait 90 days. I have talked to several clear bra installers and they all say it really depends on how the bumper is painted and cured, and what they use to paint and clear coat with. They basically said to let the body shop know you plan to put a clear bra on, and that you need the paint to cure as quickly as possible. In general, I was told to wait more like 30 days.
