Want a 4" backing plate for the Flex? Ain't gonna happpen.
I asked Flex directly whether or not the would be coming out with a 4" backing plate. No dice. Here's the reply I got:

How does flex compare to PC with the 4" plate? Going to get 1 for this Spring and dont know if i want to spend the extra $$$ for flex over PC.

I just switch from PC to Flex, and the Flex seems harder to control than the PC. It really sticks to the paint and sometime I can't get it to move smoothly like I want it to. |
It requires more control because it has forced rotation and more torque than the PC. You can't bog it down by applying too much pressure like you can the PC. It takes a little bit of practice but the results are much better.

so dont press it down as hard as I usually do with the PC? what speed do you use to work in the polish?

I usually start really slow to spread the polish, maybe 1.5 or 2, and then turn it up after its started to break down. I seldom need to go over 4.5 or so. I don't use a lot of pressure and be aware of the position of the pad and the shape of the panel, if you use a lot of pressure or have it at certain angles, it will tend to "walk" on you. Just keep a firm grip on it.
