Help I don't know if something got messed up on my Obsidian Black paint???
Ok so I used Meguiar's Gold Class car wash and washed my Obsidian Black G37 with micro fiber mitt u know so no swirls and crap....let it dry and then polished with Turtle wax black polish. I went to wax today and noticed that on the hood there seems to be little bluish black circles in the paint like freckles. Each one ranging in diameter from the size of a BB to about as much as a marble. Dark bluish black circles that you have to stand near the car to see. I have no clue if my paint is having some kind of reaction but I only see it there near the trunk in a few places.
I remember when clening black leather with leather cleaner/conditioner that the leather would sometimes randomly spot in that bluish black hue and then after conditioning and using the seats for a few hours it would just go away? :dunno: Anyways does anyone with an OB G37 or a black car period know what the hell is goin on? Pls shed some light Im kinda freakin out and I thought that all this MEguiar's and Turtle Wax brand stuff is supposed to be safe on all clear coats and whatnot.... |
:dunno:eeek no feedback? I guess Ill have to seek professional help, wish me and my wallet luck....

Snap a picture if you can. I cannot think of anything off the top of my head other than excess product on your paint. Was any product you used a bluish / black color?

actually with afew days of sun and heat the spotting is gone, PHEW!!!! I was $hittin bricks...anyways i aint washin my car next until i confirm what products are safe on the oh so gentle delicate infiniti soft paint....

I think you just used too much soap and didn’t rinse it all off. I also have an OB and use gold class and have never had that problem…

Good to hear it dissappeard. My guess is it was just excess. |
Hey, I thought I was the only one. I have a black '07 G35 sedan and I noticed the same thing about a month after I owned the car. Circular swirls where you could kind of see the metallic color under the paint??? I had no idea what it was. I thought it could have been anything from acid rain to tree sap from the trees that I always parked under. But no one else's car seemed to have been affected. And the most puzzling thing was that it was only on the trunk. I was crapping all over myself thinking that I had washed it wrong or something. All in all, I think that Infiniti must have ****ed up somewhere with obsidian black. My solution was to bring it back to the dealership and get them to buff that **** off or whatever they did. And I'm not joking, ALL the swirls disappeared. So just bring it back to the dealership and be pretty stern with them. I mean, you're an owner of an Infiniti, not a Nissan. They should pretty much try to kiss your *** every time you're there. Good luck to ya.

My Black is very messed up. Only 1 week old and small to large scratches all over the place. I knew black was going to be a pain before I got it, but I'm really shocked how bad it is. I would consider taking it back to the dealer, but I'm way too lazy to get into a fight with them. I'm going to wait awhile and then take it to the detail place at the building I work at. I'm sure they can make it good as new (new as in before it got to my dealer) for under $100.

Yeah mines not so bad swirling here and there but not many if at all deep scratches - none that appear white yet, knock on wood.....i plan on hittin up a detailer and gettin her rubbed the right way sometime early summer maybe May or June! Under $100?!?! sounds nice most of my friends get their details done for 129-149 I hope I can find a better deal! Is the under 100$ that you're mentioning interior AND exterior or just ext??

Anyway, I'm in Cali too, so if your detailer is good, could you tell me who/where he is? |
I am amazed at how soft this paint is. My OB has scratches all over it. i use a 2-bucket system, 2 seperate micro-fiber mitts, Sonus SFX Car Shampoo, and dry the car using a leafblower instead of touching it.
After all that attention to detail - there's still tiny scratches ALL OVER the car. I can rub a 100% clear terry cloth towel over the paint with only a small amount of force and it scratches it. Worst paint I've ever seen. The paint on my wife's Jetta is far superior. And it's a Jetta! |
