Researching G37's

I'm a first-time poster and have thoroughly the amount of information on this site. I'm looking at 2011 or 2012 G37X. The question I have is, with the documented issue with the 2011MY head gasket issue does it make sense to avoid looking at 2011's all together? Thanks in advance for any input.

Head gasket issue?

Not familiar with that one.

If you overheat your car, pretty much any modern car can develop a head gasket issue.

If you're looking to buy a car, try a 2013 or newer G37 to avoid the oil galley gasket issue. Buy one with low miles to avoid the water pump going bad.

And install a oil pressure gauge (my plans) and keep an eye on it if it's lower than usual. That usually means the aforementioned galley gasket(s).

2012* MY or newer. It can happen to any MY but the pre 2012 models are more susceptible. I wouldn't worry about it to be honest. You could put 150k trouble free miles on the car before it fails. Just keep in mind that it will happen though.
