Worth buying a g37 coupe from CarMax?

EDIT: I narrowed my choice down to a 2013 G37 Journey w/sport package and 33k miles priced under 25k. Looks like I'm slightly overpaying, but there are no other ones near me at the moment. Closest one is over 500 miles. I'm having it delivered now then plan on taking it to a local Infiniti dealership to have them inspect it within CarMax's 5 day money back period.

Thanks for the help everyone!

It depends on what you are looking to spend. I bought from carmax, it was easy, but it was overpriced. I wouldnt say they were waaaay overpriced though, just a little that I would have like to haggle on. All 4 of my wheels had some curb rash on them, I pointed it out to the manager and he said "sorry, but our price is our price"... Just little stuff like that. They do have a return period for their cars, which is nice if you do not like it.

Ah alright. Yeah I was looking around at CarMax and Carvana. It seems CarMax is priced slightly higher than what's on the market but I guess you get the "no haggle" part. Carvana seems like it can be interesting.

I'm still watching and hope to see one pop up in my market that I want. I'll keep researching!

cargurus.com

source I used.

If you're located on the Eastern side of the country, I could recommend a dealership if you are within reasonable distance.

Carvana seems to have a very limited search as well

Okay, I'll try out cargurus. Thank you. I'm over in Atlanta, GA actually.

Well, if you were up for making the drive....there is a dealer up this way I'd highly recommend in Delaware. I drove there twice and paid the tolls both times just to buy from him. Very down to earth and no pressure at all to purchase anything. I test drove 6 cars in two visits and he never said a word but shot the **** with me the whole time.

All his prices were right in line with what NADA recommended and he gave me $7,800 for a Lancer that required about $1,000 in repairs. Not because he wasn't aware of the issues, but because that's what other dealers offered and he wanted to honor it.

If not, Cargurus has been a great resource. Always found they had a wide variety of selections and their price evaluation was in line with NADA which was very useful.

Sweet. I appreciate the recommendation for that dealer. I literally just started searching a week ago for the particular car/trim I want.

I like cargurus so far. You're right with the huge selection that they show. I can be pretty specific too which is good.

Thanks again for your help/info since I joined. Big help!

A G37 Journey coupe isn't exactly a rare car, I wouldn't pay the carmax premium AND take their lowball on a trade. Last 3 cars I've traded in I've gotten quotes from carmax and they were 2-3,000 under what I ended up getting.

A more rare car, like a 6mt coupe, might be worth the premium and the ability to have it transferred in. Or if you absolutely hate negotiating.

You're so correct! Reading through different sites, I see the auto sport is the rare one. I'm seeing Journeys everywhere so I'm going to pass on this. That's good to know about the trade in. Mine is a 2014 Mazda CX-5 sport with 36k miles. I'll be getting it appraised this Friday to see what they offer.

According to NADA, for the CX-5:

$15,650 if AWD
$14,575 if FWD

That's excluding any extra goodies and assuming the car is in perfect condition since it's only a 2014. Should give you an idea of what to expect/ask for.

My fiance drives one and they're sharp SUVs. Both really like it. Surprised that's the trade in to be honest. Dissatisfied with it?

It's been super reliable and very practical. For my older vehicle (2002 mazda tribute) the auto transmission had issues right before I needed to renew tags. I just wanted to go with it's replacement at the time which was this one I believe. I didn't do enough research beforehand and just went into a dealership and found this CPO at a great price.

It is the 2.0 liter 155HP one. I'd just rather drive something a little different for a daily.

Any reason you're not considering a S model?

Maybe test drive one. The fast ratio steering is Porsche like, and the other goodies like brakes, seats and wheels are nice upgrades.

Oh sorry, I did decide to pursue a S trim instead. I think the upgrades that the sport trim come with would be more ideal. That's the one I'm waiting to see pop up in my Atlanta market area. I'm constantly checking cargurus, autotrader, cars.com etc lol.

The IPL trim looks neat especially if I don't plan on modding. Regardless I'm keeping an eye out on both.

You got the right idea. just stay patient and don't get desperate. The place I mentioned earlier has a 2014 S model for $26,000 with 20,000 miles on it to give you an idea.

Was just curious about the Mazda since we just picked one up. can't say anything about the time frame....had my Lancer less than a yr before I traded it in.

I see one online at used dealership. How does it look to you all? It has 45k miles and priced under 22k before taxes/title etc.

Used 2013 Infiniti G37 S Coupe Sport Pkg Navigation Camera Bluetooth for Sale in Stone Mountain GA 30087 Southern Auto Imports

There's also 2014 Q60 sport with 38k miles for 23k.
