How'd I Do?

Hi all!

I'm a newbie here. I got my '08 G37 Journey back in Dec11. It's an auto, IP color, with NAV/premium package, and 20,400 miles on the odometer. It's in mint condition. I paid $22,988. I also purchased an extended warranty for $2,800 covered by Lexus. It's the Lexus Extra Care Platinum plan that's good for another 5 years or 60,000 miles. It has a 0 deductible and basically covers A LOT of things.

So, how'd I do?

Average :)

Welcome to the forum. I think you did ok. There's a recent thread with another member who bought a similar car and paid about $6 or $7K more for a car with similar mileage so count your blessings. Not too bad.

If the car is flawless, and I mean FLAWLESS......The market value with all the options and that low mileage is about $27,500-28,000.00

So I am going to guess it has some minor flaws the seller is aware of. If it's close to perfect, then you got a GREAT deal.... MUCH better than what the previous posters have stated. These cars in pristine condition with low mileage, hold great value.

Sounds like a great deal to me. Enjoy.

really good deal, but again I would be worried about what might be wrong with it. Tha price is for a car with 50-60k on it

Thanks guys for your comments.

The car was actually listed for $28,988 at a Lexus dealer. I saw the window sticker when I came in to test drive it. This was the week before Christmas, so maybe they try to move the car? I looked at its Carfax report, scrutinize the paint and every body panel and I couldn't find any blemish. Everything is original. The previous owner was from one of the well-off towns in MA.

Anyway, I've loved the car so far. I've already got the R2C intake. I've replaced most bulbs with V-LEDs. More mods will come later as I never leave my car stock. :)

I would have passed on the pricey warranty. Other than that, seems decent

If its in flawless condition and drives great then awesome , about the same price I got mine for, 2008 black g37s 6MT in great condition you have lower mileage though, Awesome, have fun!

Yeah, the extended warranty has given me a bit of buyer's remorse. But then, I keep telling myself that I'll get the peace of mind for the next 5 years...But that money could have been used for an aftermarket exhaust or towards the purchase of some nice wheels...But the peace of mind...hahah...I'd better stop thinking about it.

The only thing I noticed was three small nicks between 1-2mm on the driver's side door jamb, kind of near where the VIN label is affixed. I can't even think how those nicks could get on there. I saw them two days after picking up the car. But that didn't make me like the car any less. Well, maybe 0.01% less...LOL. Other than that, I think the car was very well taken care of. Even the wheels are perfect. No curb rash or anything.

grgmthomas, it sounds like you may got a better deal than I because yours is an S 6MT. Congrats, though.

Welcome to the forum.

My car, quite similar to yours with 22,000 miles and in excellent condition at the moment, has a private party value of $27,500 for my zip code in the Los Angeles area, so it seems you did quite well. I also have a 7 year/100K mile extended warranty that cost only $1,850, but it was purchased when the car was new.

I thought I did good by getting my 08 G37S for $28,000 with 22k miles. But you def got a good deal specially with the car having only 20k miles. I never seen it for that cheap while I was car shopping.

Sounds like a pretty good deal.

Good luck and enjoy, sounds like a good deal...
