Josh's 2010 G37S 6MT
6MT has entered the chat.
Backstory I purchased a low-mileage G37XS about a year and a half ago. I went FBO with wheels, coilovers, and BBK. Really loved the car, I called it the all-season sports car. I drove that thing everywhere. One thing was missing though, that third pedal... I was looking for a 6mt from the beginning but never found one within my budget. One finally came up on FB marketplace in northern Wisconsin. I had the extra cash to afford two cars for a short period of time so I booked a one way plane ticket and sent it. The seller met me at the airport with the new G sitting right outside of the exit doors of the airport. We exchanged some money and off I went on my long drive home. This car came mostly stock other than a topspeed Y back exhaust and the aftermarket wheels and tires. I also got the OEM duck foot wheels with brand new Blizzak tires. (score) currently working on converting the old G back to stock and then listing for sale. I am not buying any new parts until I sell the old G. To-do list (not in any specific order) swap test pipes and exhaust from the other car DONE Fab my own 3-inch intakes Clutch pedal Diff bushing swap stainless lines swap pads and rotors Buy a set of coilovers sway bars Headlight restoration Headlight bulb swap Paint correction Admin tune Or maybe just coil overs and a turbo kit :dunno: https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...0cf61bad5a.jpg Took a baseline 1/4 mile time. Removed stock cats and Y pipe Removed the top speed y-back exhaust Swapped fast intentions and berk test pipes onto the 6mt Still learning to drive a manual LOL quite rusty. The stock Y pipe broke so I am going to have to get one for the other car. https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...c4b17c2fa0.png https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...0bcd6b9db7.jpg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...d15d42bf52.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...1346cd5b7b.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...8a9367ba8c.jpg https://cimg7.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...3049832e5f.jpg Whiteline diff bushings and z1 transmount installed. The trans mount was a breeze. The diff bushings were a pita to get out but with the help of a sawzall I got them out. Felt pretty accomplished after successfully replacing these bushings and mounts. I thought it was going to be something I was going to have a shop install for me. The diff was quite simple to drop. Insta;lled new czp gaskets on the header flanges and test pipes. The car feels SO much better. It shifts firmer yet smoother. The trans makes more noise and I like it. I don't necessarily like the vibrations, but it shifts so much better. I'm thinking the subframe collars are next, as well as some coilovers. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...3f498b1c9d.jpg |
For later use.

It was like 10 minutes ago I recommended you start a new build thread. Damn you're quick. :icon09:
Noticing that midnight grille in your other pic, the rear deck spoiler, and the front chin... I bet it has Nav, too. (IIRC, 2010 was the last year Nav was optional on the 6MT.) Love those wheels in that finish on a black sedan. Looks great, Josh. Subbed for details and progress. If your last build thread was any indication, you're going to have lots of fun with this one. |

I like the color of the wheels. They are 8 lbs heavier per wheel compared to my OEM g35 rays. I may end up selling the rims to get a lighter set or swap on the rays. I currently have 4 sets of wheels and a bunch of parts to sift through and put onto this car. Keep an eye on the FS page as I will have some parts for sale. (BC coilovers, BBK, intakes, and maybe wheels) |
There’s something very appealing about flying out to buy a car and driving it back. Like a car nerd’s great adventure.
Black 6mt sedan, good taste :driving: Best of luck on the journey to making the car your own |
Josh... RJM and STS. Both very inexpensive and certainly a DIY for someone like you. And both will dramatically improve the driving experience.
