PMTW_IPL's build
Hey guys, I decided to post my build and contribute to the forums. A little background on my G; it's a 2012 IPL bought from the first owner with 96k miles on 12/27/17. As of now (4/14/19) it's sitting at 110,836 miles. It has the graphite shadow paint with the black red-stitched seats. I recently wrapped it in 3M Gloss Cosmic Blue and I'm in love with the color! One of the best decisions I've made on the car. The plan for this build is to push the limit on how much power I can make before going FI (if I still want to). Enjoy this build and please feel free to comment, make suggestions, and voice your opinion. I'm completely fine with criticism as long as it makes sense. Follow me on my IG: PMTW_IPL to see more pictures and keep up with my build!

Here's a dyno sheet of my IPL on stock ECU with just K&N drop ins... https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...728136e439.jpg Mustang Dyno , 3rd gear pull, not sure about elevation, pretty hot day (78 degrees),highest power obtained got printed out. Now the 292hp was exactly where I predicted it to be. However, the 228tq is a bit disappointing. I was told the dyno read pretty low but I really don't want to play that game. The numbers are there, no imagining it on another dyno would make them go up. But now I have a baseline of how much power I will gain once I get full bolt ons and a tune. That's it for now. I have big plans for this G and I hope this build goes a long way. Thanks for checking out this thread! |
Do a ecu tune, you will be more than surprised!

Beautiful, absolutely beautiful. That blue is amazing.
Let me know how installing the 5" MD tips go. I have the IPL kit and my 4.5"s hit my bumper. I think I need to adjust the exhaust. I am replacing my rear bumper soon and want to make sure the new 5" tips fit without burning/hitting the new bumper. |

Motordyne E370G Catback Exhaust Install
Finally got my exhaust and installed it in my carport the same day. Install went pretty smooth and the outcome wasn't as bad as I thought until I got my G up on a lift and saw how much maneuvering I could've done. When I installed it myself, I had to twist the midpipe muffler at an angle so that the tubes can be aligned straight. The tips came at an upwards angle so my solution to that was to take the top screw off from the 5" tips and only have the sides hold on to the outlet tube. https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...de588a2369.jpg https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...9731d24b8b.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...83d9bbd8a9.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...c6077abf9f.jpg Clearance was horrible but that was on me. The exhaust was roughly 4"-5" off the ground and the passenger tip barely touched the bumper and later on burned a good portion on the exhaust cutout. I took the defeat and called up a good exhaust shop I know to see if they can make some adjustments and to see it up on a lift. All it took was some forceful budging with a pry bar and the midpipe muffler was completely straight and the tubes could be twisted more upwards. The IPL bumper made fitment a bit more harder to perfect but it was fixed by moving the rubber hangar outwards and adjusting the screws on the tips. Huge shoutout to Mariella from Motordyne for hooking me up with the washers that go between the metal hangar and the underbody of the car. Without them, I'm sure the 5" tips would be hitting the bumper. These are some pics of the final fitment: https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...59080417b3.jpg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...6cd7440670.jpg https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...c535282fd6.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...0927e533f9.jpg Now for the sound. It sounds absolutely incredible! At cold start, it would get pretty loud but would quiet down in a few seconds. The exhaust note is by far the best on the G37 comparable only to Meisterschaft. From idle to about 3.5k rpm is a low rumble and fairly quiet but at it's sweet spot, 3.5k to 5k rpm, is where the exhaust sings. One of the best mods I've done so far. I'll be pairing it up with ART pipes in the future so stay tuned. |
I picked up some hanger spacers from CWorksDesign to get my 5" tips to clear. Check my IG: jpowers36

So I was reading your top post, then scrolled down and this blue slapped me right in the face... wow!
With that Cosmic Blue wrap, this might be the only time ever that I like the whole burnt Ti look on exhaust tips. It's a perfect look for your car. Bet it sounds great, too. |

You have a really good eye for taking photos.
Some people go nuts trying to dial in wheel fitment, and here all you did was Eibach springs and 20mm spacers on the OEM wheels, and it looks perfect. Have you considered wrapping the hood to match? I understand the motivation to show off the CF, but the transition is awkward, IMO. And on a much smaller scale, same for the upper/lower chrome trim on the grille. No engine bay bling yet? I bet that's coming eventually ;) |
