Mkhlmnn's OEM Plus // Budget Build

When looking for my car I have always loved sport sedans and Infiniti. I really loved the Lexus IS-F and also the G37 IPL and wish I could have combined the two:8: but as a college kid at the time and on a budget I could not afford either. However back in the summer of 2014 I found "White Lady" with 59k miles and was able to pay cash for her before I graduated college and avoid car payments. This is what she looked like in 2014 https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.myg...d76df3a5de.jpg Now the goal of my build has been to enhance the looks and performance of the car to make it a capable and fun sports sedan that also stands out from all the other stock G35/37 Sports yet retains the OEM build quality and refinement as if it came from the factory that way to the untrained eye, almost as if Infiniti built a Nismo/IPL G sedan to compete with the F Series, AMG, and M cars. So this has been my own take on what I believe a OEM plus high performance G Sedan would have been like but sadly on a budget :icon30:. I was inspired by a few things such as the 4DoorZ, Chris Taylor's G37, TTV36 build and the IS-F in particular. Now I am getting close to completing my first phase of the build and want to take you all through the process with me and hopefully get some ideas and constructive criticism to help make my build more aggressive and better performing yet stick to a budget and factory look. Here are my current mods installed updated 10/11/16: - IP Trunk Spoiler with OEM Chrome Trim - Autokits Carbon Fiber Rear Diffuser - G2 Yellow Painted Calipers - LED Plate Bulbs - 35% Window tint - Full Custom Magnaflow Dual Exhaust with Resonated X Pipe - NSX Exhaust Tips - Fast Intentions HFC - JWT style Velocity Tubes - K&N Filters 4.5" Cone Filters - K&N Typhoon Heat Shields - Mishimoto Intake Tubes - Osiris UpRev Custom Tune by MKC - Alutec Strut Brace - Optima Red Top - Nismo Oil and Radiator Caps - Carbon Fiber Engine Cover - Z Spec engine bay fasteners - DIY Grounding Kit - Pirelli P Zero Nero A/S 255/45-19 square setup - 19x9.5" +35mm offset wheels square setup - Slotted and Drilled rotors with Ceramic Pads - Eibach Anti-Roll Sway Bar Kit and Whiteline Endlinks - 370Z Nismo Front Springs - KYB Excel Shocks - Shadow E-Drive Throttle Controller - Carsmo Knobs - GTR Shift knob (1.25" lowered stalk) - GTR Start Button - GTR Clear Map lenses - Interior LED light swap - Xuji Perforated Leather steering Wheel Skin (White Stitching) Possible Future Mods: - GTR hood vents - Painted Headlights, DRL, STI-r Lenses, HID Shrouds - 07-09 OEM G Sport lip - Carbon Fiber 10-13 Journey Front Lip - Gloss Black Roof Vinyl - Tein Basis Coilovers - Whiteline and Z1 Bushings and If I keep the car long enough: - TransGo Valve Body and rebuilt trans I will post the pictures in the next post and if you have any ideas or thoughts for DIY or budget mods to help my build come true I appreciate it! Looking good man keep up the great work. :biggthumpup: I'd definitely recommend swapping your front bumper for a sports oem bumper instead. It'll change the entire exterior 1000 times better.

Nice car and welcome. Not sure id call it a Nismo build with just a couple caps and some springs. I own a Nismo 350z and if you want this to be a Nismo build you have a long way to go.

I believe you left out paddle shifters? I bought the M45 shift knob. Did you have to do any modifications make it fit/function. 3M DI-NOC that aluminum and drop that car! |
I just did it this weekend. You have to use a serrated knife to cut a slit for the clip to hold it down. You do this by placing the knob and marking it with either a thin marker or exacts knife. Then go full on with the serrated knife. I believe there is a DIY on G35driver.com
I'm looking into cutting down the white piece to make it sit lower and on the original slit made from the OEM knob. |
Nice build thread, really like that exhaust you put together, would love to hear a sound clip if you have the time.

I will be shortening that down by a few inches soon along with some other DIYs i will post here in the thread together. - For the 3M Di-Noc do you have an example? I believe you are talking about carbon fiber wrapping but would love to see some pics! |
