MHadford's SC'd G37X
Just thought I'd share my build so far, Cuz Black Betty abused me for only having 4 posts:
My car is a 2012 G37x 4 door sedan, with 7AT.
Installed:
Powertrain:
Stillen Vortech kit
Stillen oil cooler
Setrab transmission cooler
UpRev custom tune
GSPEC strut brace
Exhaust:
Nothing yet.
Suspension:
BC Racing BR series (semi) coilovers
rear metric spring conversion
Swift springs (8kg rear, 9 kg front)
Hotchkis sways
Moog endlinks
Kintetix full camber and toe kit, front and rear
Brakes
Powerstop z26 extreme street warrior drilled and slotted disks
Powerstop Z25 ceramic carbon pads
Powerstop SS brake lines
Motul 600 fluid
REALLY LOUD Hella horn.
Many other miscellaneous things, like HID fogs, etc.
I do NOT have big brakes
I plan in the near future to install:
J&S Safeguard system (got it, just not looking forward to the wiring)
928 Motorsports volute upgrade
Cog SC drive conversion
Another custom tune
Level 10 tranny tuning.
Big fuzzy dice.
Sound system upgrades. ( I already have 2 amps in boxes, subs and full speaker replacement)
I want to do something with the exhaust. I am sure my stock cats are not long for this world. Starting to get P0420 codes. Don't want to go with test pipes because I don't want to throw codes all the time, plus exhaust can get smelly. I want performance but I don't want extra noise. I am not a teenager anymore. Thoughts? I was looking at the FI full exhaust system with high flow , resonated cats and 18" resonators...
About me:
Started serious car modification and idiotic driving back in 2003 when I put the Stillen kit on my Maxima. Over time, I changed out absolutely everything from the Stillen kit save the blower and bracket. I think I was the first guy to approach putting a huge AWIC on a VQ setup. Got up to ~ 460 WHP @13 psi on a very unreliable car. I was going through one or more SPEC stage 3+ clutches per year. Popped one motor due to blown MAF. Replaced motor, put in J&S, dialed back the boost and bought the G37. Oh yeah, I also needed 2 5MT transmission rebuilds (differential bearings and seals) and about 4 CV joints. Everything was fine to 300WHP. After that, EVERYTHING breaks.
My current theory is that you can increase the power in most Nissans by 50-100% over stock, if you are careful, without breaking too much stuff. After that, everything breaks.
My build goal is to have fun, and not destroy my transmission too soon.
That seems like the weakest link at this point. With the J&S, I am not too worried about blowing the motor, even at higher boost. The Maxima FI community figured out long ago that J&S is the magic bullet to never blowing a motor (except at 500HP when you twist up the con rods).
I am not looking to set any records for numbers. Not planning to spend that much, and this is my daily driver. I don't want it to become a garage princess like my last project car.
Thoughts?
Thanks for reading. Will post some pics soon - but not much to see. Aside from slight lowering, car looks bone stock on the outside, and we've all seen the Stillen kit.

The SC'd Maxima:
You can see the huge barrel intercooler, AWIC radiator in front with 2 added pusher fans. MAF is after the blower, and beside the BOV is a 928 boost limiter valve. Air intake is inside right fender.
And the G37x:
Currently looks exactly like above photo, except lower.

Great intro there^^^ Nice Max for sure! Sounds like you've already got a nice list going on your G and from the other posts you've had it sounds like you're already get well acquainted w/ the G platform. BTW, looking forward to the fuzzy dice, do you have a color picked out yet

You should drive out to Jersey with me next year for Level 10 haha!
Nice choice on mods up to now. :-) Have you noticed any issues with driving the car hard with the supercharger and the 7AT transmission?
