Thirty_Seven's Never Ending Build Thread
6 Attachment(s)
Alright, so I really wanted to do one of these when I first bought the car but I didn't so I'm going to write it up in order from when I bought it to the present day. Let's get to it
The Car: - It's a 2008 G37S Coupe 6MT in Platinum Graphite. Forgot to take pics before I tinted the tails. Attachment 186001 Attachment 186002 Attachment 186003 Attachment 186004 Attachment 186005 Attachment 186006 |

Exhaust:
After a ton of deliberation, I decided to go with the Motordyne E370. I wanted a Mesiterschaft but I wanted a catback and the Motordyne was about $1000 cheaper than a full Mesiter cat back. (Review thread here) Attachment 185998 Attachment 185999 Attachment 186000 |

Wheels:
I really wanted something that stands out. I was going to go Vossen or something else, but Forgestar and Avant Garde caught my eye because of the customizing aspect. After speaking to the guys at GetYourWheels, I decided that I wanted Forgestar F14s, deep concave fronts and super deep concave rears. In order to clear the brakes, though, I would've needed to run a crazy rear offset. SO I went deep concave all around. So ultimately, here's what I ended up with. Forgestar F14 Deep Concave in Matte Candy Apple Red Fronts: 19x9.5 ET 25 Rears: 19x10 ET 30 Attachment 185994 Attachment 185995 Attachment 185996 Attachment 185997 Not going to lie, I was NOT happy with the wheels because I wasn't dropped yet, and I hated the wheel gap, but I was confident I'd love them after a drop. |

Lowering:
I decided to slowly piece together everything as I got the money for it, so I started by buying Eibach springs. Time passed a little and I picked up f + r SPC camber kits. Since it took so much time for me to save up the money, it ended up being winter by the time I got everything. Well, it turned out to be a TERRIBLE winter in NYC, so I couldn't install them at all. Laying on my back in the snow in 5 degree weather didn't sound like fun. By the time the winter was over, I had much more money saved up, so I decided to replace the struts while I had everything off. I found an awesome deal at AutoAnything, so after a coupon, all 4 KONI Yellow struts were $730. One was back-ordered, so that pushed the install another month. So to everyone who asks why I didn't get coilovers, it's because I saved money gradually and didn't have enough to spend initially, and the only coilovers I'd buy are KW's which are like $600 more than I wanted to spend anyway. FINALLY, here's the day after the install (they settled a bit more by now) Attachment 185990 Attachment 185991 Attachment 185992 Attachment 185993 |

Interior Vinyl Wrap:
I decided that since most of my interior trim was all scratched up, I was gonna wrap it in carbon fiber. After talking to a bunch of people and seeing the gloss black wrap that the orange Vossen car had, I decided to go with gloss black. I bought a 5x3 sheet of 3M 1080 Gloss Black, and took my interior apart. It took about 4 house and the hardest part was getting the stupid trim pieces off. Ignore my dirty door panel... Nice progress so far! I like the choice in the black gloss vinyl for the interior!

Great job!
Those wheels really set it apart and all the parts you've put together should work well  Nice choice w/ the Konis and nice deal too. The shot from the back really shows off those Motordynes, just bad as$. Keep it up! |

Intake:
I got hit while parked in a lot last week. Whoever did it left without leaving a note.:mad::mad: $600 later, it's back to looking new. EnYCee-G and I installed a Takeda Long Tube Intake a few weeks ago. I've been super excited to get a CAI. I went with Takeda because I heard you didn't need to cut, but we made the cuts anyway, the tubing would've been severely restricted if we didn't. Thankfully, my car, being a 2008, was able to work with the splash shield as well, so that's on there too. Attachment 185981 Loos mean behind the grille, Attachment 185982 |

Sway Bars:
Also picked up a set of front and rear Stillen Adjustable Sway bars. I purchased them with energy bushings too, didn't want to reuse the factory ones... Install was simple, I wish I had a lift but that's life I suppose. Getting behind my exhaust in the rear was a PITA but it only took about 45 minutes total. Attachment 185979 Attachment 185980 |
Modding like crazy! Looking good!

Where did you get the colored tubes from? I am looking to get the Takeda but want blue arms. Are yours red or orange?

They would be really easy to paint though. Clean them well, lay down some primer, paint a couple coats, and clear them. You may want to use high temp. paint because they're in the engine bay but I think they'd be okay without it. |
Very nice list of parts you got going. Car is looking good
