Import's '10 G37S

Hey guys,

I picked up my 2010 G37S sedan last November with zero intention of modifying it. That philosophy actually lasted an entire year (kinda) before the mod bug bit me again.

Anyway, her she was in all her bone-stock glory:

That first post was actually a lie, I got the windows tinted the day after I brought the car home :icon17: and shaved the trunk emblems the day after that. Oh well...

My theory for modifying this car was never to look at maximizing horsepower because N/A is only going to get you so far and I don't really have plans of going F/I, so I thought the "shedding weight" path would be more suited this time around.

That said, after blacking out the headlights, my first real "performance" mod was Concept Z Performance 2-piece front rotors with Hawk HPS pads.

These rotors weighed in at a scant 21.8lbs, saving over 8lbs per rotor!

I didn't know that about StopTechs. Eight pounds per corner is pretty significant. Although in so far as rotational mass goes, tires and rims probably make their lightweightyness more noticeable.

Those StopTechs look real nice, though. Certainly more so than the OEM Akebono blanks.

Nice build list, post up some pics of the current version when you can, those Volks are

Great start! It's all down hill from here, trust me. Haha. So whats next?

I agree, 16lbs is a nice improvement over stock for sure.

Each of my wheels weighed in at 21.8lbs so I was pretty excited by the extra width of tire while still staying under 50lbs!

Thanks, pics will be coming once I decide on what coilovers I want to get.

Lol! Now you've got me nervous! The immediate plan is to decide on coilovers (I'm stuck on whether I want a "true" coilover or the strut/spring OEM-style) and then get the wheels painted gloss black, similar to these:

For the price it's hard to beat KW V1s

Nice build list. I don't think I ever have had a build list, besides in my head that is. Excited to see how things turn out!

I don't think there are many options for a true type coilover setup anymore. Stance may offer the only true type setup now; Fortune Auto used to make a true type but no longer do.

I'm not really sure what you mean by true coilovers, since I'm still relativity new to the coilover world, but I just had RSR installed and I've been very happy with them. Here are a couple of pictures.

I went with Fortune for my coils, I have pics someplace I think but will have to dig. I've heard nothing but good things about the Stance coils and have been happy with mine.

True type coilovers have the springs mounted to the shock body on all 4 corners. OEM style has the strut and spring separate for the rears like you RSRs (and most coilovers for our vehicles).

How long ago did you get them and are they true type? When I upgrade from my BCs I would like to get some true types myself.

Im going to say about two/three months now but I could be a little off. They're OEM type, I haven't seen any true type for the X sedan. Be interesting to see what you find.

I'd go w/ Fortunes if AWD, but OP has RWD so I stick w/ my KW V1 recommendation :)
