So time to get it all on paper and show the current progress of the car and where its going. Started off with a stock 2009 G37s with just under 33k miles:

Got the windows tinted and parts arrived:

Coils and wheels went on and was starting to make progress:

then the unfortunate happened and I got backed into:

Attachment 145521

car finally came back from the body shop after 3 weeks. i stayed with the original sport front bumper. I dont know why but I am partial to it:

this brings me to the next steps:
- I ordered vled rear plate bulbs to replace stock but need to replace the inner city/fog lights. I've tried doing my research on here but come up with a bunch of dead links and the lights being called different things. can anyone point me in the right direction for these. they would be the inner lights in the next picture:

I've bought new rear tires to replace the 275/30/20s now. just a little to big for my taste and I want to even the rake of the car out some. exhaust is next on my list. Leaning towards a motordyne unit. i like the fitment and it sounds excellent. plus the stock exhaust will need replacing sooner then later :eek3:

as always comments/criticism welcome. Thanks again guys and look forward to being more active on the forums

Like what you've done, that rolling shot from that mirror deserves another look

Haven't heard much about those ISC coilovers, might post a review of them in the suspension folder if you have the time.

Those CVTs are really looking nice, go great on a silver G IMO. What size rear tires are you going with? Those 275s look nice back there from what I can tell.

Sorry to hear about the body damage but looks like it came back clean

My Sedan got smashed in a big way about a year ago and it's a real PITA going through all that :(

Those Motordyne pipes are beastly, great sound unless you're the neighbor, lol. Look forward to more!

thank you blnewt! will definitely write a full review on the ISC coils once I have them sitting a little better. extremely happy with the product so far.

went to a 255/30/20 hankook. going to be a lot more stretch but im really trying to get the rear down more and take some of the camber out hopefully. taking some getting used to a whole new brand of vehicle and different options for aftermarket parts. I've been only german cars up until this point.

my other major question is who do people recommend for sourcing aftermarket parts from. I've come across a couple of places so far but nothing has stood out so far.

Charles @ B2 Autodesigns is a solid on-site vendor, THMotorsports is another. For oem parts discountinfinitiparts.com are all the ones I've dealt w/ and have had great service. For tires I like treadepot.com, Andrew is a very helpful guy and gives site members nice deals.

As far as your rear tires, you're having to run stretched since your offset is a bit too aggressive so having to run heavy camber to get proper tuck? That 255/30 is going to be a mighty thin tire, especially w/ a stretch mount.
BTW, what are your Vossen wheel specs?

the fronts are 20x9 ~ et 27
the rears are 20x10.5 ~ et 27

I knew I could make the offsets work just by doing my research, and the higher offset cv-t's (around 42) were on back order. I was always planning on running stretch but the 275 is just a little too tall of a sidewall/not enough stretch. they rub just a tiny bit too much. I don't mind the camber as is but wanted to maybe take some out. should hopefully have the new tires on this weekend so will update without a doubt.

255/35 is probably the better choice. It will have the same fitment relative to the fender, but it will be a more substantial tire and a better fit to a 10.5" wheel.

So far so good. You made the right choice choosing less more expensive mods rather than more cheap mods. Quality always lasts. I have an OBX exhaust & test pipes on my car & personally I love it. You can check out my build thread & see if you like the look. Good luck with the build I see a bright future for this car

looks awesome man :) check mine out if you get a chance

thank you guys for the kind words. been extremely happy with the car so far, just always forget how low it actually is ha.

need to start looking for a rear bumper replacement too. the car is cursed I swear. Are there any other options besides the standard sport rear bumper and ipl rear? Thanks so much!

Wheels look great. Makes me want to revamp from my Ray G-Game 77

nice work brother reminds me of my G when i first got it. What do you have in mind next?:thewave:

Rochester Jun 13, 2014 09:19 AM

Another G with VOSSEN CVT rims. Nice.

Now that you've had them for a bit, what are your thoughts on the CVT?

Personally, I thought that deep inner lip would be cool, and easy to clean because of the narrow spokes. But the reality is that lip gets tar and dirt just by looking at it. And it's a total b1tch to clean; my hands barely get through with a wash mitt, and access to the recessed valve stems is really awkward.

The offset is really aggressive for the G, and you have to lower the car in order to bring that in. The caliper clearance in the front was like 2mm, and now I'm running 3mm spacers in the front for that, and to better match the rear fitment.

Don't get me wrong, I think the CVT is beautiful, and I'm more happy than otherwise. Just took me a while to get there, is all. I suspect yours are 20's, so you maybe don't have the same issues I did with my 19's. I'm rambling.

Looking good, OP.

I agree with Ryne. That is what I run on my 20x10.5" 25et all around. It rides smooth too with enough cushion from the tires being just slightly taller than the 255/30.

20's definitely make it easier :icon17: . can fit my hand in to clean barrells a lot easier then expected. been washing the car every two days due to the pollen in the northeast so easier to keep up with.

Really realizing I need to go 10.5 all around. Diego help a brother out?!

Thanks guys for all the great comments. really enjoying the car thus far. Heres a couple iphone rollers i forgot i had too. this is before the car fully settled...
