Need replacements for OEM lugs.
 

Hey guys, I don't come here often but I've run into a bit of a problem.

I'm replacing the lugs on my 2011 Journey Sedan with the OEM Enkei wheels since they're ridiculously stripped out. I ordered up a set of aftermarket 12x1.25 mag lugs but found that the outer diameter and taper was quite a bit off from the OEM. This obviously raised some big concerns and I forgoed installing them(apart from the fact most of the lugs are so badly stripped anyways I couldn't remove them myself).

So I'm wondering from anybody experienced with the OEM wheels, what lugs are you using and where can I buy some that work? Or will the one's I have work fine? I'm not really looking to break the bank on these either but if I must, it's not a big deal. I plan on doing a brake job next week and hopefully I can get this sorted before then.

Sorry if this photo kind of sucks. Left is some cheapo open faced lug the tire shop used to replace one of the really bad ones but it matches OEM spec and was the only other one I could get off the car.

You'll be ok running the ones on the right, I assume the washer is the same diameter as oem, as long as it's the same diameter and the length of the shank (the threaded part below the washer) isn't LONGER than oem you can run them. It appears that the shank is a bit shorter than the oem type shank on the left but not enough to be a problem. Just be sure to torque 80-85 ft. lbs.

That's reassuring. Looking at it now; I busted out a pair of digital calipers and found that the new lug washers are 1.176" for diameter and 0.098" thick. The OEM spec one is 1.180" in diameter and 0.108" thick. Fairly marginal.

The dimensions of the shank are a bit different. OD for the new one is 0.725" and roughly 0.568" tall. OEM spec is 0.792" OD and 0.659" tall. More significant difference there but honestly, the straight bit looks to be the same length as OEM. It's just the beveled section is about half the height. As you said, this probably won't be an issue, especially with the proper torque. I'm just not sure how it all factors in when it contacts the wheel.

Either way, I'll sleep easier tonight. :D

Since the wheels are hubcentric the small differences you measured won't cause an issue. If the shank was significantly shorter, where the wheel stud would actually make contact w/ the end of the lug nut then yeah, but that's not going to happen w/ the ones you posted :)

Good call on not using the tapered lug nuts.

Alright, last update hopefully.

Took the car to the shop today and had them swap the lugs out, got home and torqued them to 80 lb.ft for good measure. So far everything feels normal and it will save me a hell of a headache when I pull the wheels off next week for the brakes.
