BC Racing rear strut - OEM dust boot doesn't fit?
Hello, did you all with BC Racing coil overs remove your rear dust boot when installing the struts? It seems like only the "accordion" boot that comes with the coil overs fits, and the stock dust boot doesn't fit, so the top of the strut rod is exposed. Is that how it is supposed to be, and is that ok?
Thank you |
Yes, that plastic, wrinkly cover is there to prevent dirt and grime from getting into the assembly; located at the bottom of the rod.. There's nothing from the OEM strut that's going to fit onto/into the aftermarket BCR coils. You can purchase complete coil over covers on Amazon for $40-50 for a pair.

As long as having the top of the shaft exposed to mud, dust and dirt won't damage the strut, I don't really care. I just want them to stay in good condition.

You'll be fine. I actually use PB blaster - silicone lube and and apply it to the threads, locking collars and on the rod/shaft each time the wheel comes off (tire rotations are perfect opportunity). Keeps everything lubed and cleaned up.
