Need Recommendations on rotors and brake pads

Hi everyone,

I just went to the dealership to get a oil check and they told me my rotors were have rust and that if there's any issues with my braking to have them replaced. I want to get ahead of it and order some good rotors and brake pads and was wondering if anyone could give me some recommendations. As brakes are important my budget is pretty high for them as long as them are quality. I drive a 2012 G37 X S with 29k miles. Any recommendations are appreciated. Thanks!

Stoptech/Centric Rotors with some the same brand pads or Project Mu.

Let us know we can work you a deal.

Rust is no an issue unless it's on the swept surface. That would indicate your calipers not working properly. And all rotors will develop a thin layer of rust overnight if they experience rain. One stop will swipe that right off.

Perhaps you can post a photo of this rust.

Plenty of different ways to go with pads/rotors, it all depends on what your after with them. If your happy with the stopping performance you have, then stick with OEM (although I would source the parts yourself its a pretty easy DIY). The aftermarket options are pretty extensive from standard blank rotor replacements (Centric) to an array of Drilled - Slotted - Drilled & Slotted (StopTech, Z1, Project Mu, dba), to two-piece rotors (Z1, StopTech, dba). Plenty of brands of pads and types within brand. Read through some threads in the Reviews Forum in the Brakes & Suspension section to see what others have done. I've made a few brake changes in the last few years and put reviews in that section.

If you want to use OEM parts you might look online. I bought Nissan pads that way for far less
than dealer price.

I'd definitely get a second opinion on them, especially with a bit under 30k miles on them.

I have a 2013 G37xS sedan with 29,000 miles and my rear is at 3mm and my front are at 4mm. They said it is not metal on metal yet but it is getting close.
