To be truly pedantic, shock absorbers are mislabelled, too. The springs absorb the shock of road imperfections, the dampers dampen the spring's natural oscillation.

You are correct sir! I almost wrote "shocks (actually dampeners)" but thought it would be too much at once lol.

Here is what the OEM replacements look like, I have them sitting in my garage right now. I am at 70k on stock stuts/shocks so this replacement is needed anyways, just hoping it solves the problem. My Swift springs are already on the car and will be fitted to these,
Do you plan on getting new tires around the same time as these are installed?

So I just learner that KYB is now making OEM spec shocks for the front of the X.
Even better news is theyre really affordable on Rockauto.

Good info, so you just use the OEM lower mount in the new shocks/struts/dampers ??

So definitely needed these. I got the front done and now the backs are noticible and shimmy a bit too.

Replacing those Thursday.

The symptoms here were weird. No noises clunks or anything like that. Just unable to pin the wheel to the ground.

Sucks I spent so much time and money looking at the tires, alignment, wheel bearings etc. No shop ever said to look at the dampers when I had them check it out.
