What tires do most members go with for staggered 20's

is it cheaper to order tires online direct to yr house and have shop put the tires on?

thank you mike

I get all my tires from tirerack.com and have a trusted local shop do the install.
FWIW I only use a shop to remove or install wheels on my G in an emergency. I have the trusted shop mount & balance the tires but I haul them back home and do the install myself. Have had too many instances of a careless tech go crazy w/ an impact driver leaving nicks & scratches on my wheels and over torquing even after specifically saying that I wanted them installed w/ hand tools

tirerack is a great place to compare models and see what rebates & closeouts are available too!

My local Discount Tire will match Tire Rack's price before shipping. I basically save the cost of shipping. No complaints about their semi-trained monkeys yet.

Tirerack.com for me too.
Saved a couple hundred, just ordered a set of tires and had them shipped to my local Firestone for the install. I have lifetime alignment there

I get the most traction I can afford that fits the wheel. Previous set was Bridgestone S-04 Pole Position on the sedan S 18s. Currently running Michelin Pilot Super Sports on coupe 19s. I spent about $900 for the S-04 and $1,100 for the PSS.

Other than the "new" Korean companies, which don't have a long enough track record here for me to gauge their quality, go with any major brand. Don't skip on load rating or speed rating, go same or better than OE. You can use Tire Rack's performance categories for gauging traction.

Here's a good read~

I'd also add Bridgestone S0-4 pole position, BFG Sport Comp 2, and Kumho Ecsta PS91 as tires to consider.

My local discount tire matches tire rack too, but while you save shipping, it's offset by sales tax.

I'd also add to shop Costco. I got pilot super sports cheaper at Costco than I could find them anywhere else once.

I ran SO4s on my OE 18s and got ~12K out of the rears.

I've been getting 15-16K out of PSS on both sets of sizes 225/50 and 245/45/18 and 245/40 and 275/35/19. The cost difference of the PSS was offset by the longer tread life I experienced.

Very open ended question. Much of it depends on how you drive - acceleration, braking, cornering. Some of us have gotten upwards of 20K or more out of summer tires.

If you generally get the upper metric of a rating then you'll see similar results. If you're a binary driver, expect [much] less.

I replaced the stock re050a with pss at ~18.5K miles. There was easily enough tread to make it to 23-25K but was concerned about issues in the rain. Sold the old tires locally for ~$200.

I got about 25k from S-04. Those never saw a track event. I have two events on the PSS which you see by the heavy wear on the outside edges of tread blocks. I don't get enjoyment from spinning my tires so I get a little more rear tire life than some members here. I am also running -2 degrees camber front and rear. 245/40-19 & 275/35-19.

I am just fine with tire life of 20k miles. I drive less than 8k per year so I don't feel a monetary pinch.

If you run a square setup that should get you a bit more treadlife, especially if they aren't directional tires since you can do a true four wheel rotation. 20k miles is about what I've gotten for most of my summer tires, although my Potenzas on our 07 were completely bald in back at 20k whereas the others still had some life left.
