Brakes aren't touchy

I recently bought a used '08 coupe (Journey) and I really want to get better stopping power and not have to put so much weight on the pedal just to stop at a light.

Everything is OEM and a friend told me to look into StopTech brake kits but I don't know much about the G's brakes to make an informed decision.

What do you guys think? Is this normal? Could it be a simple solution such as replacing the brake pads? And/or what would you recommend for a kit? :dunno:

ps. I've bled the lines and ABS multiple times at a shop, had them inspect everything, and everything looks fine.

If you've got old OEM-type pads upgrading to a better biting pad such as Stoptech Street Performance Pads should make a nice difference. They will leave more dust but IMO it's a small price to pay for the improved bite. Just be sure to bed them properly when you get them. Also you said you bled the lines several times, I'd go for a complete fluid flush w/ new Dot4 fluid, even freshly bled brakes won't stop real well if most of the fluid is old.

doesn't sound right. shouldn't take much to get the car to stop at a light.

Nice advice, thanks! I'll definitely look into it.

If it's an 08, then you're beyond the 5 year max recommended life for brake fluid. Even if the car was taken off the factory floor and put in storage for 6 years, you'll still need new brake fluid. Brake Fluid is hygroscopic, and absorbs water, which ruins your braking ability over time.

Flush out for quality fluid.
