Akebono BBK + Stoptech Rotor + ASP pads

Car:
2011 G37x non sport 16K miles. 18" factory wheel.

Caliper clearance: 15mm spacer is required to clear from caliper (and a very tight fit, 1-2mm left).

Dust shield: needs to remove the wheel hub to bolt on. Although I bought sport dust shield, I did not install due to the big over haul on an X (detach struts from control arms).

My combination:
1. Akebono caliper (heavy).
2. Stoptech power slotted (non drilled) cryo rotor. Paid cyro to make sure I receive new ones rather than returned once. cryo date are noted a day after order placed. From rotor is 29 lbs and rear is 18 lbs.
3. Pads: Akebono ASP (street performance).
4. Brakelines: Goodridge (needs the 17mm short banjo bolts).
5. Spacer: H&R 20mm DRM (bolt on) front and rear - this surprised me by cornering ability, better improvement than pilot sport summer tire + 20x8 rim.

One month impression.
1. Initial bite was so light or same smooth that I felt I lost stopping power.
2. The actual stopping power was very strong when pedal 1/2 way down. In some cases that I were not confident if I would bump into a suddenly stopped car (so many of them has non-functional braking light in Seattle, including a lowered bimmer all badge off), I gained confident that I will definitely stop before bump into it.
3. Brake dust was barely visible. The rotor shows less rust after car washing than stock - some different surface coating. This is never an issue as the rusts are gone within 1-2 brake.

Hope it helps.

Akebono requires 17mm m10 1.0 banjo bolt.

The stock caliper has m10 1.0 20.3mm banjo bolts. That will leak.

Such banjo bolts are available from local auto store for 2-3 bucks each. There are titanium ones cost 8-10 bucks each from performance tuning store.

I used cheap ones. The ap caliper used them.

You did not mention "burnishing" or "bedding" your new pads. You should do that per the Stoptech whitepaper in order to ensure you have optomised your stopping power, and avoid "green fade" of new pads.

Thanks, 63Corvette. I thought that would be by default. The pads and rotor has different instructions (500 moderate miles, or 60-5 for 10 times). Thus I followed regular procedure of 60->5 for 10 times.

For fellows not clear what's bedding, it's a procedure that transform a film coating from brake pad to new rotors.
